Harvard capped its third straight undefeated season with an easy victory over Yale in the 140th Harvard-Yale Regatta, the nation's oldest intercollegiate contest.

The Crimson beat their Ivy League archrival by 39.6 seconds, finishing the 4-mile crew race in 19 minutes, 20.4 seconds - the 10th fastest time upstream on the Thames. Harvard continued its domination in the rivalry, winning its fifth straight and its 19th in the last 21 regattas.

"That was a very strong row," said Harvard coach Harry Parker, who improved to 37-6 against Yale. "They were willing to be aggressive early. I was surprised they were able to row as aggressively as they did for as long as they did."

The race, first contested on Lake Winnipesaukee in 1852, was the nation's first ever sporting match between colleges.

Harvard leads the series 87-53.
