That does suck. Don't worry, Harvard doesn't do that. At least they won't if it's the same as Early Action decisions (like I posted before). ;)

Yeah, the subject line for my EA deferral email was only "Early Admission Decision", which, neutral as it was, left me with a sense of foreboding that was instantly confirmed;) If you use Gmail, you can see the first words of the message, and if they are anything less than ecstatic (God forbid!) then...Never mind, I'm fully expecting that.
Ivy League decision notifications:
Brown: 5 PM Mar 30, online
Columbia: someone please update?
Cornell: 5 PM Mar 30, online
Dartmouth: someone please update?
Harvard: 5 PM Mar 30, email
UPenn: someone please update?
Princeton: email, somewhere around Apr 1, meh
Yale: 5 PM Mar 30, online

@Squiggle: true to Brown's spirit;) I love it that Brown hails such easygoing and quirky kids:) As per making sure that time does elapse, I have to shake my watch about a dozen times per class to make sure it hasn't stopped:D

Dartmouth: 5 PM Mar 30, online

Penn: 5 PST Mar 30

What do you guys think of having it e-mailed v. being online. I personally much prefer the e-mail. Going to the site and fumbling for your pin and such when you know that the result is only seconds away will drive me insane. Why don't they all just e-mail them? It's safer too.

It just adds to the adrenaline rush, which feels like fun (and transitory fun at it). I went thru the feeling twice when I signed in to view my SAT scores - I fumbled up the username and password, and those few seconds were...memorable:D In short, decision via Internet is okay so long as their servers aren't acting up.

princeton is only via mail i believe

You can sign up for email at uaoffice@princeton.edu.

With all of life's uncertainties, it's almost comforting to know that ,exactly one week from now, I will be sitting in this very same spot, attempting to lower my heart rate and mollify my churning innards. Ah...what a relaxing notion.

Less Than One Week!!!

6 days, no more, no less.

Miaoling, I emailed Princeton at that address and they said they will not give out admissions decisions online, and you can't sign up for it.

i think that email is scarier. i know that sounds silly, but on a website it feels as though you have the choice. when it is in your inbox, you basically already know and get completely surprised. (but no complaints. 6 days. i am freaking out. i just want to know! haha)

I still dont understand if Harvard mails them at 5pm est? or 5pm your time?? My physics class has computers and if its at 5pm est it would be soooo tempting to just check...

i'm almost positive they are at 5 pm EST. but they don't all come at exactly 5, from what I've heard you will receive them sometime between 5 and 7ish (EST)

Columbia: 5PM 30 March, email

Columbia is 5PM 31 March

Application Update For First-Year and Transfer Applicants
Shawn L. Abbott, Senior Associate Director of Admissions

2006-03-18 09:00:00

The Fall 2006 application deadlines for both first-year admission and transfer admission have now passed and we are no longer accepting any applications for Fall 2006 admission. The next application deadline is November 1 (for Early Decision first-year admission for Fall 2007). Applications for Fall 2007 will be available early this summer.

Applicants who have applied for first-year admission will be notified of their admission decision via e-mail by March 31 (but no earlier than March 30 after 5pm). Official printed copies of admission decisions will be mailed by March 31. No admission decisions will be available before that time and no admission decisions will be available by phone or on our Web sites.

Applicants who have applied for transfer admission will be notified of their admission decision via e-mail and mail by the second week of May. No admission decisions will be available before that time and no admission decisions will be available by phone or on our Web sites.

Students who have already applied for admission should consult our application tracking Web site (https://admissions.columbia.edu/) before calling the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to check on the status of their application. Applicants can track the processing status of their application materials (for both admission and financial aid) using this on-line feature (available 24 hours a day), which is the same feature we use to track processing status in our offices. Please note that even though you may have submitted your application materials before the appropriate deadlines, it may take us several days to process your documents.

@frs: this service is for decisions via email, not online thru accounts like Yale. Btw, I heard about it on CC and it seemed to be for int'l only, but I'm not sure. This is the reply from Pton after I signed up:
Dear ________,

We have added your name to our email notification list. You willl receive your decision via email as soon as they are released. We wish you all the best.
