Harvard EA Roster + Countdown

no harvard has been a pretty clear first choice for me. i do have friends who regret doing it because they think they wasted their early round. my take on it is that you have to shoot for your #1 choice when you can. why would you apply to get locked into a non-1st choice school?

The actual brilliance of the NYU essay is the sheer number of activites he describes, which signifies a depth and breadth of knowledge.

~18 days left for my deferral:(

does anyone know where this brilliant essayist went?

i've heard that he got into nyu and went there and that he got rejected...not sure which is true

Google got to the truth of the matter. He did go to NYU, but that wasn't his essay for admission. That essay won the Scholastic writing contest in 1990 (and was reprinted in Harper's).
"Hugh Gallagher was eighteen when his college application essay won first place in Scholastic Inc.'s high school writing contest in 1990."

that was his college essay, Hugh Gallagher confirmed it. read the blurb at the top of this website (which you should've googled"

I'm applying EA. I don't know my AI yet bc CollegeBoard isn't releasing my SAT II scores until this friday. For some reason, they didn't have them last friday. If accepted, I hope to concentrate in government in the International Affairs sub-concentration.

Oh man, a double urban legend! Thanks for the correction to my correction.

no problem patna. let's get this harvard ea post going..the princeton post-whores are so far ahead of us!

Oh, I think that catching up to them is impossible. But we do need to get a conversation going.

So, Rhode Island... neither road nor island, discuss!

lol...you guys crack me up!

you know, it never really occured to me at first...i could be hanging out with (insert EA admit rate here) % of you guys next year...in person haha. to the rest of you guys (if i get in)...great chatting with you all.

urgh...

gulp come on harvard. i've spent so much time making fun of yale and princeton that it would be so funny if i ended up at one of them

funny? i'd find it a little tragic

it's all in jest, i know i'd be very happy at yale or stanford. harvard would just have to be my secret hidden love

of course...i never doubted that...:)

I bet more than 30%(?) of the Harvard EA applicants on CC will be accepted... Think about it, it takes a really dedicated few to sit in front of a computer screen for hours at a time on the CC board talking about the football game versus Yale and EA Decision envelopes...

or maybe the real dedicated few are out doing ECs :-x
