Harvard EA Roster + Countdown

modestmouse...i agree completely

Heh... I hope I'm right, anyway.

16 days to December 10th.

piyopiyo, neuroscience/music AI 9-232

wait why is the date dec 10 instead of that dec 15 date they apparently lied to us about?

We're guessing Dec 10 because last year it was Dec 11. The trend seems to be the second Friday in December.

Did Harvard send the decisions earlier than they said last year, also?

Does it specifically say Dec. 15 anywhere? I think it says mid-December on the app.

We have 45 people! Power to the Harvard Earlyites!

And 16 days 'till December 10. Everyone, cross your fingers.

Not that I'm EA, but I'm kind of upset right now. If my high school would just tell schools our rank, I would have a 229/240 (8..one point away from 9). Because they don't, I have a low 7. Excellent.

You have to be pretty darn special to be admitted as a 7. Unless economic diversity is a large hook this year, I think I have cause to be a little disheartened.

Willywonka-Have you tried talking to your GCs about putting your rank in their school report. Maybe something like "Our school does not officially rank, but if we did, Willy Wonka would be in the top 8% (or whatever you are)." That's what mine did for me.

Well I know that they'll say Top 10%. They told us they'd go that far for us. Unfortunately, the guidance counselor to whom I'm assigned was one of the main proponents of getting rid of class rank a few years ago, so I don't know.

I could take my Harvard stuff to one of the guidance counselors who were opposed to getting rid of it, I guess, and maybe he'd just come right out and say 1-2/250-something.

Wow... didn't realize there was that much of a difference between 1/2 and top 10%. I think the Harvard supplement asks for the highest GPA in the class, so if that's you, then they can tell you're #1.

Does anyone know exactly what time on December 10th the decisions will be sent out?

if your high school doesn't rank, it will NOT be held against you!

hmm im new at this

azneverfrost/economics/7-222 when i use a class rank of 12/400 but i have a 9/231 when i use my gpa...weird o well...good luck everyone!

What makes you say that? I understood it that AI is only a large factor for athletes, and much less of one for normal-applicants. Additionally, why do you say that 7s need to be "pretty darn special" (as opposed to an 8 or 9?). I really don't think AI is as big as a deal as some people make it out to be...

collegeperson- 9 am? I'm not sure, but I think I've heard that somewhere.

Raven 01- I couldn't have said it better myself. From scanning these boards, I used to think that AI was a HUGE factor on college admissions, but that's simply not the case, at least at Harvard.

I specifically asked a Harvard adcom if the school uses AI and he conceded that it is used for athletes to see if they reach the minimum number to get in, but he said it is NOT used for anyone else.

Therefore, Harvard will be looking at you holistically and if your school doesn't rank, that will have little to no effect on you getting accepted.
