Legacy
brother and sister graduated Harvard Undergrad I don't know if thats legacy or not

wow this is a long post
So... what do you think, anything else I should do/do different?
feedback from applying/accpeted/students/alums would be awesome

keep it up...your chances are looking pretty good

just wondering..
will a person who shows strong commitment in music and math and science be a stronger applicant than someone who is well rounded ( someone who does sports, music, writing, math, debate..)

I'd say that your brother was either joking or he doesn't really know what he's talking about. Keep the math team in there, it provides good variety and shows dedication to something that is academic.

There is nothing wrong with being a little nerdy, if anything, that would make you fit right in at harvard :-P

what's wrong with being a nerd?

I don't know, but it seems to matter to Harvard. (I've read some stuff...lol) They want people who can be social as well as smart but still brings something unique to the Harvard (whatever that means). By definition, a nerd is "A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept." (via smarterchild)

I don't think that being in math club--or mathletes?--will ruin your chances at Harvard. After all, you'll probably get an interview and thats where you show off your social skills.

I really don't know just how much being "nerdy" will ruin someones chances at Harvard, but I've read a lot of post where people said "Harvard HATES nerds". Anyways...
