Currently an 11th grader at a semi-competitive high school who's looking at applying Harvard ED this year.

I've placed at ISEF in 9th and 10th grade, and got into Google Science Fair regional finalists in 9th grade. I have a few more assorted science fair awards, including some Best of Fairs locally.

I've taken six AP classes over the past two years, and am currently taking another five. Regarding AP tests, I've taken eight and gotten all 5s (so AP Nat. Scholar in 10th grade). For SAT IIs, I have 800s in US History and Biology M. Regarding SAT I, I've gotten ~2250 as an 8th grader, and will be taking it again this October (just before ED deadlines, expecting around 2350s, hoping for 2400).

Class rank is 1 out of around 500. UW GPA is around 4.0.

Regarding ECs, I'm on a number of my school's clubs (speech and debate, science bowl, etc.), and play varsity tennis. I've also been on my city's Youth Advisory Board for a year now.

Since I'm applying as a junior, I actually have no idea what my chances are relative to the other applicants. I haven't been able to find much information regarding early graduation/application, so I was wondering if this community could give some insight into how much my applying this year will affect my prospects at admission.

Thanks!

(Also, I haven't figured out if being a junior will help or hurt me regarding apps. Or if it affects them at all)

Is there a specific reason you’re applying early? You could wait another year and focus more on EC’s. They’re obviously amazing right now, but another year could potentially improve them.

EDIT: By intel awards, how highly have you placed? Also, did you win anything in the clubs that you’ve participated in (speech and debate)?

I’m going to be out of AP classes after this year (well, except for AP French and AP Lit.), and will have to do the tedious juggle of college courses and high school courses. Now I will be able to do things like Siemens and STS then, but I’ve mulled over it and decided that in my situation, it would be better to apply early.

Harvard’s SCEA…as with the Princeton and Yale.

You seem on track to somewhere top 20…but its hard to tell from there. If you can do some research/papers (you are writing one for seimens…if any papers get published, its like an admission +10000000 points) that might make your profile more appealing…

but its too early, and still a crapshoot. If you were a URM, thats also a boost too.

Hmm, it depends… It’s pretty clear that graduating early is going to either help you or hurt you. I’d like to say that you have as good a shot as anyone, but Harvard is Harvard after all. Are you willing to give it another year and see what else you can get under you belt?
