Harvard Final Clubs and the Punch Process

I’m a student at Harvard who would like to go through the punch process and maybe join a final club. I was hoping to gather insight from those who have been through the process. A few questions:

  1. How many people get punched?
  2. When do punch invitations go out in the fall? (I was pre-punched for a club, but I am hoping I will get punched for more than one considering how competitive they are)
  3. What was your experience or the experience of those you know in the clubs?
  4. Any tips on getting punched/how to enjoy the process and do well without becoming obsessed?

Note: I know that these clubs are not everything, I know these are exclusive and hard to get into, I know that they are generally expensive and dominated by people from the Northeast (which I am not from), I just think it would be a great experience and want to make the best of my time at Harvard and participate in something very uniquely Harvard.

You know about the controversy about final clubs, and the penalties for joining, right? Just making sure.

Coed ones don’t have sanctions!

It is only single sexed clubs that are punished. Harvard students can’t be trusted to select their own groups so Harvard has punished the ones that are traditionally female.

The OP didn’t specify so just wanted to make sure studentathlete18 knew about the controversy, whether he/she is applying to single sex or not. There are other ways to “make the best of (your) time at Harvard.”
