Harvard hoops - the Beast of the East

I'm enjoying following the Crimson as they steamroll through their basketball schedule. Historically, Harvard's basketball program may have been the most futile Division-I program in the country. Under Coach Amaker, they're now likely to enter the national Top 25 this month.

Shocking, isn’t it? I’m hoping this persists for another couple of years; if they don’t hit the top 25 this year, winter of 2012 would be excellent. Any word on the underclassman talent?
All nerdiness aside, I still have half a mind to follow my potential college’s sports team! All the better if it’s actually a team worth following.

Top 25 in the country this week! They shouldn’t be intimidated when they visit UConn on Thursday. They probably won’t win, but they should be very competitive.

I was on SI and quite shocked to see Harvard on there! At first I thought it was a typo haha. Go Crimson!

(Prays) "Oh Lord, let not this enthusiasm turn out to be hollow. Let not our many cheers be in vain. Let not this improvement in Harvard’s basketball prowess be due to violating NCAA recruiting rules or to lowering the academic admissions standards for players to embarrassing levels.

Let it be that our stars have chosen to play for the Crimson that they may obtain a first-rate education and not that they (or their parents) received payments that were hidden from our eyes. In other words, Lord, no scandals. Please, no…"

This squad is legit! UConn is going to be a very tough game, but the ultimate goal has to be to win the Ivy outright and make it to NCAA tournament. Very exciting time for Crimson basketball.

The Harvard-UConn game is going to be broadcast nationally on ESPN2. Pretty heady stuff.

I hear you, Coureur. As a Wake Forest alum, I felt a little sense of unease when Wake won the ACC championship in football a few years ago. I guess that playing football badly had come to seem like a validation that there were higher priorities in effect. :)

Good lord. The spread is only -6.5. Really? I’ll be watching for sure – who knows when/if they’ll make it to TV again?

Harvard gave it a good try, but UConn was just too tall in the front court. The Crimson could do almost nothing inside.
