If thats true then I will surely get rejected, I am still studying to take two SAT 2s just so I can apply to Harvard (if only they knew :)) but, its hopeless. I have nothing extraordinary to offer. In fact, if my SAT scores were not in their middle 50 percent, I wouldn't apply.

Honestly - your chances are basically zilch. I think kids are becoming way too obsessed with scores, when the fact is schools like Harvard are done with top scorers. They want kids who are unique, not homework-intelligent.

Anyone can get a 4.0 GPA at the right school with enough time. That won't get you in. What will get you in is a FOCUS on an INDIVIDUAL subject. You like math? Make it a priority for free time and ec. Like medicine? Make it a priority for free time and e.c

AP is complete crap this days, especially with the arbitrary grading and teacher abilities. (I.e, a school with 400 AP students will have a higher scoring average than a school with 20 AP students).

That's why top high schools are being scrutinized heavily by major universities. Inflated grading policies plays a significant role in passing mediocre students as academic Gods (I've seen it first hand).

Point being, academic record is overrated. Make sure you have an above-average minimum, but the likelihood of getting in on a 5.0 GPA and 2400 SAT by itself is very slim. I've had DOZENS of friends get into these schools with far lower scores than you, because they had a very special interest. They couldn't care less about the homeless, or missions trips, or spending thousands of dollars to travel to foreign countries and participate in building a house (probably cost you more to go there than the amount of energy you contributed).

It's quite amusing to see my other friends sweat and bleed over silly GPA records and college-appealing e.c. I mean, would you seriously spend 2K to go to Harvard's summer camp if your goal wasn't to get into Harvard?

HSisOverrated, who are you talking to - me or akahmed or somebody else..? confused

I think he's talking to akahmed. He refers to GPA a lot.

Akahmed...I think instead of Harvard you should apply to Yale. But, if you insist, what makes you unique could be your language proficiency. Why don't you start writing your essay (in English) about how speaking many languauges allows you to interact with people of different cultures. Then continue the essay in Arabic. Then continue the essay in another language. Since it's a 1 in 12 shot anyway, go for the unusual! You can send me $100 if this works. What have you got to lose?

I would give you a hundred bucks, a week ago! That is the best idea ever, except my apps are already in. I get all this language thing from my parents, they know arabic, punjabi, gujrati, hindi, urdu, kuchchi, swahili, english, yeah

I must have somthing they like, if my GPA is too low.

just curious did u get in?
