Harvard Interview. How "Conversation" -like?

Hey

I just scheduled my Harvard Interview.
How hardhitting/probing/difficult are the questions? What questions did you get asked?
(I know that it's a "conversation," but that's what every school tells you and it can mean different things.)

I've already had an MIT interview and Rice interview which were totally opposite.

My MIT interviewer was really on the ball and asked me several questions that I didn't have answers to and that I had to think about about. It revealed my shortcomings and my strengths.

My Rice interview, on the other hand was very pleasant genial. I just talked about myself to this older Texan lady for about 45 min. She didn't ask very many probing questions.

So yeah. Where does Harvard Fall on this spectrum?

it really depends on the person who will interview you

personally, the person who interviewed me just asked me my SAT scores (he was in a rush to leave for a family get together)

my bestfriend though, she was bombarded with questions pertaining to philosophy and politics…

some people though enjoyed their interview… it was as simple as asking for their background and such, so i like i said before, it depends on the person who will interview you.

Mine, after the asking about numbers, was a conversation. Granted, it was a conversation about the history of jazz, French literature, existentialism, alcohol, and the theories of historians.

Just did mine today. Extremely conversational–mostly talked about myself, hobbies, future plans, etc, plus him talking about Harvard life and things. I wasn’t even asked the “Why Harvard” question.

i had mine a while back. i was surprised in that my interviewer spent about 7-10 mins talking about me and the next 30-45 mins were questions i had for her. judging by the other responses, i guess it really matters who you get as your interviewer

My interviewer kept trying to get me to talk about something that my application didn’t show…

My son had an interview a few days ago, and it was a very pleasant and conversational interview. They talked about music, comics and recent books they read. The entire interview lasted about one hour.
