Most of the decisions have been made, but none are posted. If you type in your name on the posted page, and the pin from your status page doesn't work, the conclusion is simple - a freshman with the same last name got in. Again, Harvard does not intend for anyone to know admission decisions until they announce them, and none of you will find them out early. Some HBS students who did were subsequently rejected.

...because they hacked.

Oh, really? I though that IT specialists determined that it wasn't a real violation, but H said that the info was not meant to be released and it was accessed prior to their intent to release it...
Maybe you are right.

doesn't it make sense that if freshman decisions were emailed on the 30th and the application status page expired for them on the 29th and the application status page expires for transfers on the 15th that decisions will be emailed on the 15th for sure?

sorry hope that makes sense ....

No. Last year the status check page stopped working on the 15th as stated, and the decisions came on the 18th.

I don't think they'll let admitted transfer students login before they officially release the decisions. They will probably upload the names on the admitted students web page when they send out the emails. But, who knows...

dc09, just some wild speculation... i wonder if they have already accepted you and are only interviewing you as a last-minute assurance that your application is an accurate reflection of your character in person
....or the interviewer could've just forgotten to ask you earlier...

Hey guys, the applicant status website only allows you to check the 'status', whether if you are missing any test scores and such. I just requested a pin from Harvard and I can log on just fine. Your real decision will come in either through e-mail or mail.

bnx86:
Currently a Sophomore, 1540 SAT (do they still care about this?), 4.0 GPA, Vice Chair of Carnegie Mellon Student Senate CL committee, Spirit of AMTA Award in Mock Trial (kinda BS award), 5 courses/semester, doing independent study course in Poli Sci, TA for a professor, business internship in Beijing last year, got on local Chinese newspaper in Jersey, wrote an Chinese article myself.

I spend a really crappy amount of time on my essay though, and my high school average was like an 89 ,so I don't know my chances, but if any of us on this forum get in, we should definitely meet up during orientation and have some fun.

hmmm.. I'm getting a lil jittery that smith says "incorrect pin." I'l like to believe it's because there's a freshman applicant with the name smith but still....it remains so upsetting that my last name spits out "user not found" How ominous!

hitmanultra: wow. impressive stats. the SATs don't count all that much now, but 1540 can't hurt you. Your 4.0 (which is amazing) will hold the most weight.

Nah...I'm sure your essays weren't that bad. what did you write for your why harvard? Also, how did your interview go?

bumpity: in a few days, you, too, will be an incorrect pin! don't worry!! stay optimistic.

dunno if dc09 has been admitted yet, but I'm at least 80% sure he/she is almost in- harvard will definitely not be wasting the time of their alumni, especially at this late stage to conduct an interview last minute- perhaps they are having a tough time choosing between u and someone else and decided to interview u both? Perhaps they just want to confirm u are as dynamic and driven as u sound on paper? I'm hoping it is the latter that's the case since u can just totally wow ur interview and get in for sure-If it is the former, then pray hard cos ur opponent prolly has a great personality as well- which is why sometimes I don't see how interviews help adcoms for exceptional, well rounded students- If anything I see it making the job more difficult- unless they pick successful candidates based on the interviewers' trivial observations such as "he smiles way too much" or something inconsequential like that-

thanks bnx- I admire ur optimism- for harvard and co, I'll much rather be a realist(not the polisci meaning)- Gud luck to u! A lot of ppl on cc want u in!

in terms of the interview, it definitely isn't a bad sign.

In terms of the website.... I dunno what it means, but I don't think we can put too much faith in it. I doubt they upload all the names before it's announced, in the off chance they are hacked, and they clearly aren't finished with decisions.

Just gotta wait a week or so.

Hey kids. Open a phonebook and try the names in order. You will get at least 100 "incorrect pins" before you get through A.

Smith. Lol. Try Jones.

that's gon be a very loooooooooooooooooooong week...

bumpitybump: thanks for the support. by the way, i remember you posting earlier that you had received a personalized email from a harvard admissions officer regarding the contents of your application. I received several, as well, some of which were actually from the director of transfer admissions. do we think this is a good sign? or do we think she was just the initial reader of my application?

I know, I tried brown too- I think we had better stop trying before the webmaster or someone starts to wonder why so many people are trying to log in and are not getting in- we already have like wot, a 7% chance of getting in, which is ridiculous! Drive that slim chance down to 0% and then we start having to talk of mission impossible- Overcome your whims guys and stay put- let's not get in trouble, however impossible that may seem-

nah- I think it's a good sign actually-for one thing, the director of admission will only get to read a small number of applications I'll presume- Or isn't that what harvard says, apps go thru a few rounds that pass thru students and some admissions officers before they get to the higher level officers- Ithink the director only reads certain few apps at the adcom level given that the lack of necessity to read as many (since he/she is a higher level staff) is the reason why he/she is director anyways- but I refuse to take solace in that simply because it is only indicative of the stiff competition we were probably facing at the point- hence the need to clarify certain aspects of our apps- for instance in my case, she wanted to know if I had taken intermediate macroeconomics- I bet my rival had thus giving the person some sort of upper hand over me-oh wells...

bnx86: Thanks for your support, best of the luck to you too :) ! Are you from New York by chance? (Bnx=Bronx?) I went to high school in the city.

My interview went really well. It was very informal, we met at a coffee shop, she treated me to a latte, asked the std. interview questions, and then even drove me home because it was raining that day in Pittsburgh. I just talked about my school stuff and some thoughts on China. She was a really nice, and made me feel relaxed. In the end she just told me the interviews don't weigh very much (whether getting one means anything she didn't know), and wished me luck.

As for my reasons for going to Harvard, I just put something together 3 hrs before sending out the application, lol. I recycled my 'reasons' from my previous applications, and just replaced the professor and course names. I'm not really regretting it.
