People always say that Harvard denies people with 4.0’s and perfect SAT scores. People also say that there is a chance if you have a low gp a but done AMAZING things outside of school, you stand a chance at Harvard or Yale.

I know it’s a reach, but they say anything is possible, Be very honest on what you think my Chances are to get into an Ivy League or Elite School.
Did you self publish your books or have them accepted by an established publisher? How is your company structured? Is it a one-person enterprise or do you have employees?
The books are self published and as of now it is a one-enterprise company because it is still fresh. Employees will be hired when the business expands more.
Real talk, you can apply to Harvard and Yale but you 99% you will be rejected for your gpa. I suppose there is a chance you get the few sympathetic readers on Harvard’s admission board and they slip you in but like the above poster I’m not optimistic.
I would suggest casting a wider net to find some schools where you have a realistic shot of getting in. Harvard and Yale are not realistic with a 3.2.
Self publishing a book and starting your own company are not game-changers as anybody can do that. I’d also suggest that you take a good hard look at your essay topic; it might be fine, but based on your description, it’s bordering on overused. Good luck!

I think skieurope probably covered it pretty well but an amazing EC is national recognition in a well-known, prestigious competition, published books (not self-published), and the like. In a nutshell, they’re things that make you think “how did they do that?”. I’ll be the first to say that I have none of these (maybe one, I guess) but with a very low GPA for those schools you would need amazing ECs to even be considered (in my opinion, which of course isn’t fact).
I think I’m going to have to agree with most others on this post. While you do have some pretty remarkable EC’s that impress the average person (like myself), you’re still up against people who have done things of similar caliber. Only difference is they also have a stronger GPA to fall back on, which really makes a difference in the end. I’m not saying don’t go for it, but just keep in mind how important GPA’s are in the process.
“Sewed hard for Cancer Patients and donated it to the American Cancer Society.” What’s that mean
ACT score is really good, shame that you didn’t work hard in school to raise that GPA.
Chances are you won’t get into any ivies with that GPA (real talk).
“Started a petition against Human Trafficking because Fashion Designers tend to use child slaves to create clothes and I just branched out to help Human Trafficking in its entirety.”
^MMmmm, nope.
& Let’s be honest your not CEO of a fashion company, unless that company is called Me, Myself, and Thousands of applicants participate in the google science fair. Many people who apply to top tier schools also conduct fantastic research in college level labs.
You sound like an amazing person, i guess it wouldn’t hurt to apply to those schools but chances are you will get flat out rejected from all of them.
Be honest with yourself, work hard wherever you end up going, and you can transfer to a better school if you are unhappy there!
Good luck in your college search
@NavalTradition Might I ask why? My downfall regarding grades was 9th and 10th grade. There has been an upward trend ever since and I’m still not done. Harvard breeds leaders, CEO’s, and Billionaires, all things I wish to become. I respect your opinion and honesty but why wouldn’t this school be for me?
