Let's say you have been accepted by both. Which one would you go? Assuming: you are a girl, you are majoring in humanities and you want to be in Law school eventually, but you prefer bigger city , and the financial aid packages are pretty close. Please give your vote and explain. Thank you so much!

Yale places in law better than any school period. Yale is also less cutthroat, more focused in the humanities, and a very politically aware campus with excellent mock trail/debate teams.

That's ridiculous. Yale is by far an inferior school. The claim that Yale places better in any law school is unfounded and untrue.

If you want a city, you'll find one at Yale, but not a good one by any means. If you want a CITY, go to Harvard. Perfect location in Cambridge (beautiful, small city) ten minutes away from Boston (big, and also beautiful CITY).

Yale will always be an inferior school. Deep down, every Yalie realizes this, and the idea that they can never be as good as Harvard students haunts them constantly. Really, I feel sorry for them.

I say Yale, because the social atmosphere there is better. Try to search this forum in Harvard Section (i believe). There, you will find a link to an article about the failing and horrendous social life. The article has comments from actual students and a quote from some person who works at Harvard who says something to the affect of "Students at Harvard are not here to play, they are here to work." I think that says enough.

Of course, if you want to be able to get practically any job you want, then Harvard is for you. But me as a person, nobody can pay me enough to be unhappy.

Visit the school though, you may find that you like it!

Dumb people like these are why a great school like Harvard sometimes gets tarnished.

I'd go with Yale...I also loved the social atmosphere, and it has a big emphasis on humanitites and social sciences!! Yale is also on the list of the top 10 colleges with the happiest undergrades...Harvard isn't :-)

Go with Yale. Sure, Cambridge can't be beat...but that is not a good enough reason in my humble opinion.

Hello everyone. I'm facing this decision (been accepted by both) myself. On the contrary, I will be studying in the biological sciences en route to med school. Any advice?

^For sciences, don't pick Yale.

Yale has been putting a lot of money into the sciences to make it more competitive against places like MIT and Harvard. If you are into biomedical engineering, Yale's new facility is pretty amazing, and they are constantly updating their facilities. As for job opportunities--there is no difference between Harvard and Yale. None. Zero. Zippo. Whoever tells you otherwise does not matter.

Go where you want to go. Visit each school, talk to students in each major, and go to the place that has the best match of general vibe and academic offerings.

Agreed take your pick. Both schools are great... though Yale, when I went there, definitely seemed to have more of a humanities lean/friendlier atmosphere.

Wow... I'm really amazed by the Elis + Tigers on the Harvard forum! Hope my classmates aren't similarly polluting the Princeton/Yale forums.

Harvard has some great humanities options–concentrations like Hist + Lit and History of Art + Architecture are loved by my classmates. Boston + Cambridge are also awesome.

One thing to keep in mind–bulldog days + prefrosh weekend are not necessarily accurate depictions of normal social life on campus.

My theory about why Harvard doesn't make the happy undergrad lists is that people expect too much from it. It's bound not to live up to its reputation.

Personally I think they are both great schools - you should choose based on your gut or possibly your intended major. (Keeping in mind that many students change their majors.)

When the thread is titled "Harvard or Yale?" I would say that it's perfectly appropriate for Yale students to post in it, regardless of what board it's on.

...You can cut the tension with a knife....LMAO

High school kids that haven't been to either one JFM. They are both excellent schools. Visit. One or the other will resonate with you. There are plenty of happy people both places.

Harvard for sure. No-brainer.

Visit each school and go to the one you like more. No-brainer.
