House of London: “You’d be surprised to know that rankings are much more than opinion based. They actually take data from each school and measure them up according to who is more impressing based on these stats. I wouldn’t be too quick to dismiss USNWR.”

Unfortunately, USNWR has ranked House of London as only a Tier 2 poster on CC, so you can take what he says with a grain of salt.

You would think that by this point people would figure out that USNWR changes the rankings each year as a marketing ploy to keep things interesting and sell their magazines (their sales would go down significantly if, as is normally the case in real terms, the discussion was ‘not much changed since last year’).

^^I’m sure that some companies may look at it which schools are at the high end and go recruit at high-end schools in the hopes of landing some top kids for entry-level positions. My own company does this to a limited extent. But I can’t imagine that they would choose a well-qualified Harvard grad over a well-qualified Princeton grad simply because H is ranked #1 and P is ranked #2. The hiring decision would not be made on that basis. Things the candidates did or said in the employment interview would loom much larger in the decision than any school ranking.

Well…yale being placed above Stanford and MIT (in any ranking) is clearly BS for a variety of reasons that I won’t get into in case yale ■■■■■■/stalkers come after me.

what’s wrong with Yale? I didn’t go Ivy for undergrad so I was just kind of wondering what ya’ll have against that place…really that bad? Personally, there’s just something about saying “I went to Yale” that would be so tight (obviously Harvard would be ridiculous as well).
