Harvard SCEA 2023 International Students Interview

Have anyone applied Financial Aid here?

Hi guys, I am an international applicant from China. I got my interview a couple of weeks ago!

How many people from China are interviewed each year and how many will be accepted in the REA round?

I am an international applying from China and got my interview in late November. How many people in China got interviews?

He was banned for that single post :open_mouth:
What is so criminal in his question?

@Alezzz Probably because he and bertieprc are the same person.

Very strange manner. Create two accounts to ask one question only

Bingo

Oh well, there’re two days before decisions are released and I still haven’t been offered an interview, I guess I can kiss any dreams I had of attending Harvard goodbye! Good luck to everyone here though–hope you guys make it!

Anyone here applying from Latin America? I have not revieced any type of interview whatsoever; I read somewhere (I don’t remember where specifically) that an alumni interviewer stated that if you don’t recieve an interview you are either a really strong candidate or a really weak one, could any of that be true?

@salamandereyes I made the first account and for some strange reason, the comments was flagged for moderation and failed to go through the system. I then made another account and posted the same comment :frowning:

@cutebaby @salamandereyes According to www.hio.harvard.edu/statistics, there are 19 NZ students currently attending Harvard College. This means that there are about 4-5 NZ students in each undergraduate class (19/4=4.75). In other words, Harvard admits 4-5 NZ applicants each year.

Where I am getting is that, if about 6 NZ applicants are interviewed every year and 4-5 are admitted, that gives a pretty good chance to interviewed applicants. It’s important to note that NZ is listed as a country with “Limited Interviews,” so we’re talking about countries like India, China, etc.

^ I’m no expert analyst and there are many more factors though… We can’t know for sure if all NZ admits were interviewed, perhaps some were admitted without interviews. Also, we can’t know for sure if only 6 NZ applicants are interviewed every year, maybe there are more.

@worldwide1 I’ve seen Indian/Chinese applicants receive interviews and get deferred on past threads, and the six interviewed NZ applicants are SCEA + RD, so the acceptances may have been given RD. I’m curious as to how adcoms could choose such a selective number in a week, though. SATs?

My counsellor suspected that having early interview is a good sign. He said my interview was held in very early November, meaning that adcom really wanted to know more about me as soon as possible. I am not sure if what he said is true. Do you think my counsellor is right?

@cutebaby Mm, nobody can say bc interviews in China seem to run on different systems than elsewhere (idk). I got my request 6 days after applying, if you consider that early  we’ll all know in 38? hours!

@cutebaby apparently the Asian subcommittee met on the 9th and most of the interview reports were supposed to come in before or around that date.

@bertieprc @salamandereyes So all Asian students had their interviews before 9th November. I am afraid that I have been rejected in the Asian subcommittee meeting LOL

@cutebaby lol I got mine in late November. Can you pm me? I don’t have enough post numbers to initiate a pm.

@bertieprc have pmed you. Please refer to your mail box
