Harvard senior charged with fabricating life history, stealing grant money

best comment: “You have got to just love how some of the posters, no matter what the subject, manage to mention Obama, or his aunt as was the case with one poster. I think DisinterestedObserver and Dumboni must have headaches with all the effort they put in to blame the President for everything that goes on. You both need to get a life!”

My dad had a friend when he was in the military who did something like this. He and his friends had decided to create a fake applicant to Harvard and see if it could get in. They each took turns sitting the SATs and everything. And it actually worked and the fake person got in, so they all decided to enroll him… and so the fake-guy was enrolled for like a semester and they all just took turns going to classes. (I guess it was 4 or 5 guys who took the classes.) After that, they got tired of it, and it un-enrolled. I don’t think they ever got caught or in trouble. =/

Adam Wheeler is an idiot. Why apply for the Rhodes and Marshall Scholarship knowing good and well that he’ll get caught when they check into his background? Most folks in his position would have simply graduated from Harvard without exposing themselves in that manner. Adam is certainly not the first person to have cheated his way into Harvard; and he is certainly will not be the last to do so. Anyone who gets caught will be made into an example to prevent others from doing so in the future.

Wow I just read this article today. I feel bad for the next person on the waiting list ): That is so unfair. He stole a great education and crushed someone’s dreams.

Trouble is - he COULD’VE ended up on Capital Hill. A few Congressmen have been ‘outed’ recently for lying about there academic or military records. One from CT claimed to be a USMC combat Vietnam Vet when, in-fact, he merely attended weekend drills as a reservist (shades of ‘W’?).

At least Al Gore actually was stationed in Vietnam during the war and according to all reports even Saigon was classified a ‘combat zone’ due to all the Vietcong activity.

This harkens back a few years to one university where a pig was enrolled and I believe graduated as members of a frat took turns on exams, homework and such.
