Hey, what students have been accepted to/applied to Harvard SSP for 2009?
I guess this will be exactly like the similar threads.

i'm applying. even if i get in, i'm not sure i'll go.
what class are you taking?

Introduction to Philosophy
Deliquents, Criminals, Psychopaths and Terrorists

This is going to be amazing....

Are there any classes taught in the summer program that are actually real Harvard (term-time) classes?

Yes, they all are Harvard undergraduate-level classes. Students applying to H the next year can transfer the credits and Harvard College students can take those classes for 4 credits each. Although many teachers who teach in the program are from other universities, my first class on Globalization, is taught by a Harvard undergraduate professor in sociology and my other class is taught by a Harvard Medical School professor, who teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology.

So the answer is, yes.

Is it prestigious at all or just pay to get in? Or maybe if you get an A in the harder classes it'll look better than just getting an A in your standard community colleges.

It isn't that prestigious, but it is better than doing nothing during the summer and if you get an A in a harder class, it probably looks better than a community college and if you really shine, you could get a letter of recommendation for college, if you're a junior.

So in the end would taking Harvard SSP be more beneficial or researching at a science program?

Which science program?

Im going! im really excited.

im in Macroeconomics and Language and Culture

I'm Going taking intro bio

An A from Harvard will definitely be worth something because it shows colleges that you can handle college level classes.

Plus a recommendation from a professor is a pretty big hook if you can get one.

I'm going. I'm taking Law and Psychology and Reality, Desire, and the Epic Form: Homer, Dante, and Joyce both taught by Harvard professors.

I intend to apply SSP for this summer but the required TOEFL score is much more than I could do.So I had applied for SIEL (Secondary School English Language Program) and I got my acceptance nearly 2 weeks ago. Probably,I will go for it.Anyway,do you think that having a SIEL can waive the TOEFL requirement when I apply for SSP next summer ? Thanks a lot !

I told SSP that I’ve been studying in a bilingual schl for more than 11 yrs, and they waive the TOEFL requirement for me.
I am accepted too! chose intro philosophy and microeconomy…

I got accepted too! I want to take The Essay, and Law & Psychology. The credits for these courses can be transferred, right?

did u think that law and psychology was an easy course to ace ?
