I got accepted to the SSP at Harvard. I originally was going to take Principles of Econ (8 unit) but now I dont know. I heard the toughest class is Organic Chemistry. When I took Chem in 9th grade, my teacher focused a whole bunch on organic chemistry. Hypothetically, Lets say I can assure an "A" (Hypothetically!), will it give me a boost in admissions for undergrade?

Btw like 50% of Harvard Undergrads fail this course on their first try. Assuming I can achieve an A, (I will study my ass off at Harvard, and study before I go there as well), represent my under-represented minoritiness (Hispanic) going through obstacles, an it help my in admissions?

Also BTW I want to be an economics major, so this would just count as an elective when I go to Harvard (hopefully)?

Of course it will give you a boost for admissions; taking a true university/college course anywhere will help your admissions chances. By how much? Probably not that significantly.

Your absolutely right, I want to enroll in the course because of its difficulty and the impression it will have on the adcoms, but the catch is...they dont know that. Im pretty sure I can get a recom from the proffesor. Also I dont think I get course credit at Harvard for Principles of Econ. What i mean after all of this is; ultimately two identical candidates (identical in every aspect!), one took Organic chem and the other "Bob Dylan" along with "the samurai", honestly which one would Harvard take?

dude, take whatever you want. Harvard will not care either way...the admissions rate for SSP is so high that it really doesn't affect your application whether you go to it or not. If you do go and do well, it's just another indicator that you'll be able to handle the work at Harvard. However, Harvard says that 80% of the applicants every year are able to handle the work, so that factor really isn't going to be an issue in your application, unless you have a horrid GPA/class rank/SAT and want to prove to Harvard that you really are capable.

The adcom would never make a decision based on a class that a student decided to take while at SSP, especially considering that many of the applicants couldn't even afford to go to SSP.
