Harvard SSP

KY -
That's weird that they put you on a waitlist. I was accepted to SSP yesterday, one day after the received all of my application materials.

yea same happened with me last year. they got my materials on day and i was accepted the next day.

hey how did you guys find out that you were accepted? by mail / email / etc ?

email

....

yea email......

Has anybody gotten their decision packet yet? The one with the materials, FULL course catalogue (not the small one that was sent out in ~December/January) that was mentioned in the acceptance letter?

JPGK-

bumpty bumppp

do you think Brown is more fun (due to practically NO rules), or is Harvard just as laid back?

college credit?

how is financial aid? who is it generally granted to (e.g. minorities, internationals, working class kids, some middle class kids, etc.)? ..given you have a 4.0, etc. any ideas?

and are there a lot of nerds? ..seriously. socially inept kids w/ nothing else to do in the summer? (honest question)

Just got accepted a few days ago, waiting on financial aid.

jpgk - no i haven't gotten the decision packet yet. They should send it sometime next week though I think.

I need to turn in my app for financial aid. I hope they can give me lots of money...LOL my family definitely needs it.

I did it last summer... I'll respond as I can.

Harvard is JUST as laid back, although apparently Brown has some tolerance for drinking. Harvard has NONE. Several people were expelled last year for it. But it's so much fun; it's extremely laid back, especially for rising seniors, who have no curfew.

Nearly all colleges will give credit for the Harvard courses.

Don't know enough to answer this; however, I did know some people who did get finaid.

Heh, well most of the people are very smart. And it is a very geeky group; however, everybody manages to have fun, and, if you find them, there are people all over who are extremely social, etc. But, seriously, it's a great group of people. I'll say that almost everybody I encountered (self-included) really WANTED to be there.

It's an amazing summer.

Do you have to stay for the full length of the program?
Since I've been helping out at a local math program the past few summers I was wondering if I could potentially skip a week of SSP if I am accepted

jun 23-aug 17

Sorry lol , I must have edited my post right before you replied
Yeah, for anyone that needs it, most of the info is on http://www.ssp.harvard.edu/

For the people who wanted to know -- I got my SSP info packet in the mail today. So exciting!!!

..... ugh apparently Harvard "lost" my rec and my transcript .. so i have to wait some more :(

that sucks! are you sure they just haven't gotten it yet? they didn't receive my teacher rec until a lonnnng time after she sent it. but i wouldn't worry too much about it, i'm sure there's plenty of space left if you're a well-qualified applicant. GOOD LUCK! i hope you get in :]

thanks spiffy stars :) my teacher sent my rec AGAIN last week ... still waiting ...

how many days after getting an email did harvard send a packet in the mail??

lhslexingtonorg you can probably skip a week if you set it up with them....I went there last year and quite a few people had problems with their school conflicting with the dates of the program.

Harvard still hasn't recieved my rec ... hmm ..

strange... youre SURE your teacher sent it?
