No, it's not. Boston is not usually hot from September to June. There is no need for air conditioning.
If it's really that bad then you can go to Widener, which is kept at a constant 40 degrees or so.

auxsoleil which canaday are you in?....last year i was in Canaday D...ahhh im miss ittt

there was actually someone who got air conditioning last year, but there is 0.001% chance

Yeah, this guy from Philips Exeter in Canaday A...He said that he had a "breathing problem" in the heat. Everyone in his dorm ended up hanging out in his room.

Not necessarily something you want.

Oryza, Virgil is right. Towards the last 3 weeks of the program, I had to wear a jacket because it was 50-60* outside.

Bring a fan or something. Its the middle 2 weeks that are horrible.

oh man, i lived in canaday a too. represent!

and yes it was a hot spot for more than the AC, he also brought one of those things that made the bed softer, so there were more people on that specifically...there are some GREAT stories from Canaday A summer 06...

I'm in! I just got my letter of acceptance. I hope that there are classes available...

Has anyone here taken the SSP via Distance Learning? I live quite a distance from Harvard, and I was going to take the course via Distance Learning due to a variety of medical conditions (allergies, asthma, etc.). Will I be missing a big part of the experience?

umm, i live 4000 miles away from harvard. that aint gonna stop me from going.

how far away do YOU live.

HAHA i live about a 4 or 5 hour car drive away :)

wait, would your name be Peter by any chance?

another canaday a 06 here!

um oryZa, my name is not Peter ........ :)

are you guys bringing fans?

im in quincy d12. and for the people with facebook, here is the link to the ssp 07 group.

theres already 160+ people, so its a good way to meet people.

in terms of the heat, if you have the means (i.e. car space) bring a fan or two. CVS and the hardware store have some, but not enough for every student to buy one, so they sell out very quickly.

but only the dorms on the yard don't have a/c right? dorms like Quincy and Wigglesworth have a/c, no?

I don't think so.... ^

okay, i guess i will bring a fan then ... does anyone know how easy it is to get off a waitlist? for International Law, there are currently 20 people on the waitlist :(

so on facebook people say theres a rat problem in canaday...

can anyone confirm this? (i'd hate to have a rat eating my stuff while im sleeping)

some of the people on facebook went last year too and confirmed it.
