In any event, as I have said, there is considerable evidence that the Shanghai rankings have been quite inflential in large parts of the world, perhaps because they have great interest in the sciences.

There are a few countries - notably Australia - where relatively high Shanghai rankings have been touted to great effect in recruiting within the important market for Asian students.

I find the notion that UCSD is somehow better than UCLA to be dubious.

Texas @ Austin 15... TX A&M 105. lol :)
Some Texans would kill over that. But my English teacher would say...told you so...

What's so shocking about Texas being so high? What are ya'll yanks? "We got more 'n cattle and horse flesh down 'ere." (said in a slow, easy drawl) ;)

Texas is the largest University in the United States!

no matter what, Harvard is always #1

Harvard is horrible at scheduling classes. Some of my friends will only be able to each 2 meals a day Mon-Fri because their classes don't allow time for lunch/dinner.

If lunch is so important for your poor friends, tell them to:

carry energy bars, or

change concentrations.

That happens at more places than just harvard.

Yeah, I know... I just happens to felt like posting it since "Harvard is horrible at scheduling classes" is actually a direct quote of my prof at H and it's stuck in my head now... heehee. He was semi-angry because we have to start late every day because another class ends at 6pm while our class is suppose to start at 6pm.

Harvard's widener library is the most beautiful place I have been to in the entire United States!!!

I find libraries scary, especially Widener and Sterling (the main Yale library).

I'm typing this in Widener. I'm not even joking. I don't find it particular amusing. [random complain]There are tourists everywhere during the summer and I find them annoying.[/random compain]

What's a 15 year old doing in Harvard?

Most likely it's Harvard SSP.

i think that the status of harvard in the world is permanent. no matter what we individuals think, it's always going to be #1. so that's that. shrugs it's pretty pointless and nothing will change by having these conversations. if you think that your college is better than harvard, become famous or something and then promote your university. you will have more say that way and more people will listen.
and no, i do not go to hahhhvaaad.
