Hi everyone, quick question :) I've heard that the Harvard supplement has a box for Counselors (and maybe your teacher recommenders as well?) to fill out, for some additional information about the applicant and their school. How does one access this (because my counselor doesn't know about it), and is it even required if the Common Application has its own forms covered?

I'm an international student by the way, if that makes any difference. (speaking of which, another question? Would I need to submit a Certification of Finances with my application this December!?) Thanks guys :D

So my understanding is, if you are applying for financial aid, (which you should if your family income qualifies since it would not negatively affect your admission chances in any way), simply follow the same procedures as domestic students in applying for aid, the process for which is outlined on the financial aid website. There is no need then to fill out the Certification of Finances form for Harvard.

If you’re not applying for financial aid, you should fill out Section B of the form, which is needed in order for the school to issue you a visa later on.

Thanks for the very thorough reply xrCalico23! The form can’t be filled up online, so does it HAVE to be mailed? :S I’m surprised Harvard asks for this yet neither has it on the CommonApp nor publicize it sufficiently. I wonder, is it REALLY required then? In any case, thanks!

Regarding the financial aid, I will not be eligible to apply for it. As such, would I still be required to include these forms to my application? Or could I just provide them if I plan to enroll if admitted? Thanks :)

The second part of the counselor recommendation has to be filled in by the counselor and mailed to Harvard. I called and confirmed this. The woman I spoke with agreed that it was unfortunate that part II was so well hidden, but it is required.

Maybe it’s a test to see if applicants are interested enough to read their website thoroughly (?)
