^^ Yes, ditto to the above post #798. Everyone is acting like getting an interview is a sign that you’re one up in the admissions process. Please stop stressing, it’s almost painful to read all your post fretting over whether or not you’re getting an interview. In almost all cases, interviews will not have any impact on your application, it will neither help or hurt you. In fact, it is more for the benefit of the applicant to be speaking with an alumni and getting more info about the school. ONLY if the interview goes terribly wrong and you’re found to be mentally or socially unstable, then it will go against you. So for some people it may actually be a good thing that they did not get an interview.
Just chill everyone, focus on your school work and EC’s. Make sure your back up RD applications are prepared as well.
Just curious: On the Upload materials section why does Harvard say you can upload unofficial transcripts/test scores if they want us to send official test scores/transcripts?
Is it just me or is the applicant status portal down? I’m trying to post an update
@piranhavator it’s working for me?
@yayaylearner my bad my school wifi just blocks it for some reason haha
Random question I just thought of lol: do the admissions officers/regional officers work on weekends, especially for EA, considering it’s such a time crunch?
@LeBirthdayBoss some admissions officers might read apps when the get home from work or over the weekend if theyre behind. ive heard of officers reading apps well into the night lol.
If I submit an update (one of only 9 Youngarts winners in my discipline/category), could Harvard possibly revisit my decision even though the committee has already met?
@piranhavator maybe, maybe not. No one can tell. Best of luck.
I see a budding Super Moderator in you @MaybeHarvard2022
Yes I agree. It is only going compound your stress if you’re going to think and re-think through the Admissions process. The thing to keep in mind is that no matter how efficient, it is ultimately subjective and the committee dismissing you does not necessarily downplay your merits. That’s just luck. And if the speculations on this forum are correct, December 5 is less than a week away and it is entirely implausible that they will interview now. The sooner all dejected applicants come to terms with this, the better their remaining apps will be. Good luck to everyone!
Hey @nekanorneki ! I’m also an Indian applicant and I haven’t gotten interviewed. While it may suggest that I’m already rejected (considering international interviews are probably selective) it shouldn’t be that much of a big deal. I mean yeah I’m a bit crushed but I’ll take the decision in my stride no matter what it is. Just be proud of the fact that you put in an amazing app and there wasn’t much more that you could’ve done. A decision won’t change the fact that we’re brilliant . So let’s just hope for the best and move on regardless, yeah?
@piranhavator I’m kind of surprised that nobody’s commenting on that article. So sorry that happened to you; can’t believe Harvard didn’t send out apology and explanation emails. And that three page questionnaire is inappropriate-probably caused everyone a lot of stress. So unnecessary and time-consuming. I guess you just have to forget about it now, since there’s nothing that could be done at this moment. When the process is all over you can certainly contact Harvard to let them know how they could have better handled this disaster. Good luck!!!
@piranhavator Also, I would email them your YoungArts update immediately.
Hey guys. I am an applicant from Ethiopia, which is one of the countries where there are no interviews available. All this talk about interviews has me worried now. When you guys say international-interviews are selective, does it include countries where no interviews are available too? And if so, has anyone ever got one from one of those countries not listed on the website?
@Kaleab470 Yes, it does. Because selective interviews can be conducted by the admission officer through Skype, if they wish to. By the way, has anyone in the past got in to Harvard from your place? And how do you think you compare to them? (Because I myself am worried about not having an interview and I am hoping you are also a very very strong applicant who hasn’t yet been interviewed. Just my hope, though.)
@nekanorneki yes i am aware that there was a girl that got in Regular last year but I don’t know if she got an interview. What you said about admissions officers contacting you “if they wanted to” is such a disappointment. Although I don’t consider myself a very very strong applicant, I do think that my application is strong. Which country are you from btw?
@Kaleab470 Could you ask her if she had been interviewed? And I’ll inbox you where I’m from (keeping it confidential on this thread).
I had my interview on the 22nd. Is the interview report supposed to show up on the Application Checklist?
@Kaleab470 Actually, yes. I’m an Iranian applicant and I got contacted for an interview with an admissions officer about a week after submitting my application. Iran is one of the countries where no interviews are available (according to the website).
