@CoolGuyIzzy it depends…did your grades take a dip anytime during high school? do you have an upward trend?
I applied EA on 10/27 and received an email about an interview yesterday (11/27). I scheduled it for tomorrow…cross your fingers for me that it goes well
If it matters, I have a 36 ACT and 3.96 UW GPA–I’ve seen others with similar stats on this thread who are getting super late interviews as well.
@ech019 Good luck! I’m an international, and I’m really hoping I’ll get the chance for an interview.
@ech019 if you don’t mind sharing, what are some of your ECs/ awards?
Good luck @ech019! Don’t stress
Good luck @ech019!
From someone who has read/followed prior years’ SCEA threads or is quite knowledgeable about the application process in general, what kinds of extracurriculars/activities would warrant a 1 as opposed to a 2 or a 2 as opposed to a 3 in that specific category? I am trying to figure out where I would land in the extracurricular category…
IMO:
1 = National-level achievement
2 = Class president, yearbook editor, lead in the musical
3 = Participant
1 = national or state-level recognition. A classic example would be an all-state soccer player or a regional debate team prizewinner.
i don’t know if im allowed to link articles on here, but @eastcampus prepscholar has a really great piece called “What Harvard’s Asian Admissions Lawsuit Reveals…” that breaks each category including extracurriculars down
also, did all of you guys do the optional additional academic/intellectual activity essay?
You are allowed to link news articles form e.g. New York Times, the Crimson, etc.You cannot link articles from Prepscholar.
@dreamthief001 what is the “optional additional academic/intellectual activity essay?” Do you mean the supplement?
@shehar17 sorry yeah i meant the supplement that says “Please use the space below to list additional intellectual activities that you have not mentioned or detailed elsewhere in your application.”
@dreamthief001 no, did you? If so, what did you include?
@AnnaNura I’m a ballet dancer at the pre-professional level (17 hours/wk, plus intensive summer programs). I am an International Thespian Society member (have participated in every play since freshman year, was head of publicity crew for one play). I play flute in my school band and select band. I am president of a club (pretty low time commitment though). I have received a couple awards from my school, I am a National Merit Semifinalist, and an AP Scholar with Honor. I’ll have taken 7 AP classes by the end of this year. I’ve volunteered at my local library and at a summer preschool camp. I did a 1-week internship at the legal department of a hospital–my intended major is PoliSci.
(I didn’t really want to spill every detail about me on here, but you asked )
Thanks for the good luck wishes, everyone!
@shehar17 im applying RD so wondering how people use it
@echo019 just be sure to say “Government” as a “concentration” instead of “polisci” as a “major” during the interview . Good luck!
What concentration is everyone applying under?
