Harvard and Princeton are both world renowned universities, with extremely low acceptance rates. That being said, certain universities are better than others in particular fields. For a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, what are the differences between Harvard and Princeton, and which is generally better?
For engineering in general, I would look elsewhere unless you get great financial aid from one of these two schools.
DadTwoGirls, generally speaking, Harvard and Princeton are so generous with financial aid that they will more than meet 100% of demonstrated need, almost entirely in grants. Very few students graduate from those two universities with substantial debt.
Now there are obviously cases where applicants come from upper middle income or lower high income families that are not eligible for financial aid and can secure acceptances with generous merit aid from elite engineering programs such as Cal, Michigan and UIUC. In such cases, there is a substantial gap in the cost of attendance that is impossible, or at the very least very difficult, to ignore.
Shafkat, Princeton has the edge over Harvard in most engineering disciplines, including EECS.
Neither are well known for engineering
Thanks guys! You were really helpful.
I disagree TooOld4School. Princeton is well known for Engineering. It is usually ranked among the top 15 overall, and among the top 10 in Aerospace, Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
Also think about what you want in EE?
Research? Co-op? Great labs?
either will get you a good job as a quant on Wall Street. If it is engineering you are actually interested in, look elsewhere
edit: looking at previous posts I see the OP is an international applicant. I’d wait to worry about which one to attend until after getting accepted
Yeah, getting accepted is my main concern for now
