Harvard WSJ article

I was reading the WSJ like I generally do, and in the weekend journal, there's a pretty good editorial about the harvard admissions stuff this week. it's light hearted and is a pretty good read.

well, paste away and save us a dollar, please

(or having to get out of pajamas, if we wore them)

can you post the link?

He (John Fund) has had two heavily-discussed pieces lately on "Ivy" doings:

The first on the Yale/Taliban flap, and the second - to which you probably refer - captioned "Getting Into Harvard: Two Cheers for American Higher Education".

Both are available online.

PICCOLO?!! The reign of the oboe has ended,...

Oboe artists are a dime a dozen, now. What's needed are trumpet and trombone players.

i have 3 of those thing... minority, 4.0 gpa, and rare EC ...
so, things are looking good hopefully.

WOOT! I play trombone! Maybe I'm not completely out of the running after all, lol.

Hear that, lads and lassies? The future is brass!!
(pawn your oboes)

Although, by then, might be harps,..
(but never ever triangles)

Make sure to say your life's ambition is to play in the Harvard Band on Saturday's at the Stadium. More brass is always needed.

There are already more than enough orchestras, wind ensembles, chamber groups, etc etc etc. IMHO!

Great! Glad to hear that there has been a shift. D1 got in to H playing a bassoon. But I trembled for D2's chances coming up in a couple of years, because she is playing French horn in high school. Maybe she had the right idea after all.
