Harvard, Yale, or Princeton?

None For undergrad.

For Grad: Harvard

"Not only that they can say that both were lackluster students atesting to how much a yale degree can get you. "

right. if you're a C student at yale, you can become president. if you drop out of yale, you can become vice president. ;)

Billy Gates - dropped out of harvard.

doesn't really help your point there. didn't he get an 'honorary' degree?

Harvard may know how to select the best students, but it doesn't know how to educate them. That's why their dropouts like Bill Gates are so successful. He wasn't contaminated by Harvard's horrible undergrad.

yes uber... and ur city college of san Francisco is much much superior to harvard's horrible horrible undergrad.

sr6622- considering Princeton doesn't put much into its graduate programs, are you saying that Princeton is a bad institution?

well, "relatively safe" is a little different from something you'd list as a pro for location though.

bump...bump...bump...bump...

I think JFK went Princeton undergrad, Harvard grad.

MIT is 3x harder than everything else (with the possible exception of Caltech). I mean, just look at how they jam all of single variable calculus into 1 semester -- the school is very well known for being simply academic boot camp; harder than all of the rest.

THE LIST: (besides the usual HYPSM)

1.Duke- deff better than most ivy's\
2.Williams- complete undergrad experience
3.U of Chicago- altogether awesome
4.U.S Military Academy- completely overlooked by people, 1st engineeting school, 15 people in a class, free education, massive funding
5. US Naval Academy
6. Cal Tech

Notables: Cornell, UVA, Upenn, Georgetown

An0nym0u5: No, I think Princeton is fine, but I don't think I would go to an Ivy for undergrad (unless for some program where I am accepted into their grad school like Brown PLME) because if I go there, it will be hard to stand out. I know there are a bunch of smart, intelligent people at the Ivies who don't have great GPAs that would be better than me, but if I go to a pretty good school and have an outstanding GPA, then I might have a better chance at some grad. schools.

JFK went to Princeton freshman year, then to Harvard, I believe.

And Princeton actually does have some excellent grad programs (notably WWS and sociology, off the top of my head)...it's just that the grad school is significantly smaller than the college, which allows the university to focus most of its resources on its undergraduate education.

So of course I think Princeton is the best :)

of the 3, my vote easily goes to Harvard. it has far more name recognition than Princeton, and i think Yale has gone a little off the deep end, ya know? radically liberal, grade inflation...all in all, i think you will be best off at Harvard

Yale. It looks more like England. :P

sr6622- yes, but speaking idealistically, you would learn more at HYP. going to college for the education in and of itself is a luxury in this career-driven world.

ironically its college knowledge that helps in a career.

my brother didnt rank well in the school. wasnt an outstanding student. didnt graduate with honors wasnt even top 30% of the class, got into his top business school choices (wharton, columbia, and stern). i dont think u necessarily have to stand out at say princeton to get into ur dream graduate school =P

some would say harvard in kind owuld be radically conservative, and also has grade inflation, i wouldnt say those observation make a strong case.

spincut - Harvard is radically conservative?... 98% of its donation money went towards John Kerry in the last election... not to mention that its often called "the Kremlin on the Charles"..

and what, yale donated 100 percent? crossing the line to make it radical?

the point being i wouldnt say one is radical and one is not, nor would it be a strong case for or against one if it was.

Educated people know that Bush is a dumbass. It's that simple.
