At this point, it is clear to me that Princeton has, once again as before, admitted most of the cross-admits (in our case, 26/35), and hence will have lower yields with more better students. Yale, once again, is winning overall, as it did last two years. The poor showing belongs to Harvard and MIT, and Stanford is as usual.

Clearly, these results are proportionally inconsistent with reality. Harvard has the highest yield rate in the country – hardly a poor showing.

In our case, H only admitted 16/35 of those cross-admits, and only 6 committed. H would have close to 100% yield if H admitted no cross-admits. Let us discuss this thing somewhere else.

The data are the same to everyone. It is how to read them. I don’t really care about the yields because they are disguised in the noises. But the data show certain information about how aggressive a school is to get the better students, how many actually were admitted by more than two HYPSM, etc.

1-1 Battles:

Harvard (5/8) v. Princeton (3/8) - Harvard wins
Harvard (4/10) v. Yale (6/10) - Yale wins
Harvard (3/5) v. Stanford (2/5) - Harvard wins
Harvard (2/3) v. MIT (1/3) - Harvard wins
Princeton (5/10) v. Yale (5/10) - tie
Princeton (6/9) v. Stanford (3/9) - Princeton wins
Princeton (4/4) v. MIT (0/4) - Princeton wins
Yale (4/6) v. Stanford (2/6) - Yale wins
Yale v. MIT- no cross admits (??) - tie
Stanford (2/2) v. MIT (0/2) - Stanford wins

Harvard: 14/26
Princeton: 18/31
Yale: 15/26

The only financial aid program that doesn’t match Harvard’s is MIT’s, so I don’t think that explains why Harvard sees better yield rates than it’s peer institutions.

Oh, but can’t you find out about the cross-admit rates from sources other than the colleges themselves? I thought there were usually studies done now and then on these topics that reveal the cross admit results.

“Spectacular fortitude”, as well.

You did not understand me, since I didn’t mention anything about the stock market and the stock market has nothing to do with the topic of this thread. However, the definition of a scientific sample did show that, with respect to cross-admits preferences among the top schools, your sampling method has zero chance of producing an accurate result.
