Harvard-Yale Weekend

Hey everyone,

Some friends and I are planning to go to Yale for the HY Game, but we don't know anyone at Yale and are just thinking about sleeping on couches within the sister college at Yale. We were wondering if you guys have any restaurant suggestions? Bars/clubs in New Haven? Anything new and exciting that just opened up?

Thanks!

There are so many restaurants in the Yale area of New Haven. Really its all up to what youre in the mood for.

If I only had 2 trips to New Haven and say each trip had 2 lunches and 2 dinners, where do I have to eat?

If you love pizza - Pepe’s. Just be prepared to stand in line, although it usually moves pretty quickly.

If the line is too long at Pepe’s, you can order a “to go” pizza. Pepe’s generally won’t let you order the white clam pizza to go, but if you order in person and pay in advance, it’ll let you.

?? Every time we are driving through New Haven within a few hours of lunch time, we call up Pepe’s and order a pizza to go, usually the white clam. No one has ever told us we can’t do it, and it’s all hot and waiting for us when we stop by to pick it up.

Sally’s is (in my opinion) just as good as Pepe’s, and sometimes has less of a wait.

I think those places will be mobbed that particular weekend.

Est Est Est is better than both of them, in my humble opinion. Anyway, if you’re looking for food just walk around Chapel, Church, Temple, ect there are tons places to eat. Or you could just ask Yale students when you get here.

Screw “meals.” Get Ashley’s Ice Cream.

And don’t forget Louis’ Lunch!

…but only if you don’t need ketchup on your burger. (Frankly, I was underwhelmed by Louis’, but I know some people love it.)

Pepe’s has a place next to it called “The Spot” that is the original Pepe’s…same pizza, WAY shorter line.

But yeah, definitely pizza. BAR is also really amazing.
