I was accepted at HMC, which I believe is a great college. I already sent the deposit there. I was waitlisted at WUSTL. I have realized that the only way it would be a change of getting off the wait list would be to show an extremely high interest in WUSTL, and commiting to enroll.
But, would it be wise? Is WUSTL an excelent engineering school?

WustL is great engineering school (but not better then HM for engineering). But is is more balanced, great quality of life and overall reputation is much stronger. You will get a lot better education in non-engineering courses which is very important further in your career.

DTan, Washington University is not "great" in Engineering. It is good to be sure, but great is too strong a word. HMC on the other IS great in Engineering. And although it is true that Washington University can provide more course variety than HMC in non-Engineering subjects, students at HMC can take several classes at Pomona and Claremont McKenna Colleges, which are excellent in the Social Sciences and Humanities. Not that it matters at either university since Engineers have a very science-based curriculum that does not allow for much exploration in other fields.

Mafp, HMC and Washington University are TOTALLY different. If you cannot easily decide between them, there is a good chance that neither is a good fit for you.

Thank you very much.
Indeed I think I am turning more to one side than to the other. (You may have already noted in my nickname) I just want to confirm [more] this hard decision.
Thanks again, to both.

Just Curiosity, Alexandre, how did you became a moderator? Are you from the people that mantain this site? Just wondering...

Moderators do not run this website. We merely help supervise. Each moderator is assigned a couple of forums. I personally moderate the Cornell and Michigan forums as well as the MBA forum. Moderators were once just regular posters on this forum until the administrators asked us to become moderators.
