^ Well... many kids who start out as genius prodigies are later seem to have mostly average lives as adults. It might be a case that motivation and intellectualism is hardly the case to "exceptional" success in the real world.

GWB 10chars.

In Bush's defense:

In high school, Gore received all C's in French and mostly C's and B's in English and history. His only A in all those subjects came in a senior year history class. Only in art classes did Gore earn straight A's. And he took a lot of them.

Gore got into Harvard on the basis of his high board scores -- and the fact that his father was a prominent U.S. senator. (When George W. Bush got into Yale, his father was a comparative unknown -- a mere congressman, on the verge of losing his first race for Senate. He was a Yale alumnus, but so were a lot of other boys' parents.)

Gore continued his mediocre performance at Harvard, ranking in the bottom fifth of the class for his first two years. In his sophomore year, the Post reports: "Gore's grades were lower than any semester recorded on Bush's transcript from Yale."

Gore could not complete either divinity school or law school at Vanderbilt, failing five of the eight classes he took in his three semesters at divinity school. Exactly how many classes do you have to fail to be called dumb, if you're a Democrat?

Meanwhile, the "Average Dumb Guy" (aka Bush) was earning his MBA from Harvard.

Look it up. This information is out there people. Or you can continue drinking the kool-aid. I'd prefer to think for myself and seek the true facts before judging who is dumb or average...

Lol CoffeeAddict9716. Conservative much?

Just some funny tidbits:

Both Bush Sr. and Jr. went to Phillips Academy and moved on to Yale. Bush Sr. was captain of the baseball team, and Bush Jr. captain of the cheerleading squad.

Bush Sr. was seen as a war hero while he was a fighter pilot, and Bush Jr. was suspended from the military (many speculate it was due to drug use, but there is no real proof).

Bush Sr. started a successful oil company, and Bush Jr. failed at his oil company (called Arbusto-- Spanish for "bush")

Bush Sr. ran for congress the first time in 1966 and won; Bush Jr. ran for the first time in 1978 and lost.

Bush Sr. was the US ambassador to China in the 70's, was head of the GOP, and head of the CIA. In 1980, he runs for the presidency and loses, becoming VP for the next 8 years. He reruns for the presidency in 1988 and wins. In Bush Sr.'s memoirs "A World Transformed," he states:

"Trying to eliminate Saddam...would have incurred incalculable human and political costs. Apprehending him was probably impossible.... We would have been forced to occupy Baghdad and, in effect, rule Iraq.... there was no viable "exit strategy" we could see, violating another of our principles. Furthermore, we had been self-consciously trying to set a pattern for handling aggression in the post-Cold War world. Going in and occupying Iraq, thus unilaterally exceeding the United Nations' mandate, would have destroyed the precedent of international response to aggression that we hoped to establish. Had we gone the invasion route, the United States could conceivably still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land."

Wonder if Bush Jr. ever read that.....

i literally started laughing my ass off when i read that last paragraph.

GWB is a beast, pimp, baller, G, thug, playa, genius, and god.

keep drinkin the kool aid, which there should be more of now that obamas prez

i like obama he's going to be a great president just jeezuz the more ppl rip on bush the more it seems like they know he wasn't really that bad. stop embarassing urselves and, if u know gwb is a fool, quit whining about him and dont be a 'sore winner' so to speak

dude, i love george, man. he seems like the funniest guy. me and him would hit it off well.

Really ppl GWB is not president anymore. I am really glad that since we have a new president, ppl can stop speaking bad about Bush.

On a side note, I hope Micheal Steele will revive the GOP, we need it. Black conservatives FTW!!!!

I dislike black conservatives.

^^Yeah we are really concerned about what you think.

I know somebody who teaches at Yale and she said that she has to do Math remedial classes for many incoming freshmen. I specifically asked if these were recruited athletes and she said no. I wonder what sort of Yale admittees will have to take math remedial - may be these are the AVERAGE people as noted by OP. But these could be the hook types too. Not sure.

^^^I heard it was the recruited musicians.
Let's be careful about stereotyping athletes as boneheads. At the Ivies, for the most part, they aren't.

They could just be humanities majors; maybe they have to take Calc for some distribution requirements?

So, is it a no?

As in average Joe? Probably not.

Average stats? Definitely.

I sure hope so. I'm definately average when it comes to stats, EC's, etc.

Trust me... you aren't the only one. Stats here are usually not a good representation of the entire applicant body. People on CC are a bit higher score/gpa wise from what I've seen.

Personally I'm in the same boat with you. My GPA/SAT/Rank are average or lower for the typical Ivy applicant.

Although I am lucky enough to have URM, and a few nice EC's.

Don't sweat it, and don't worry. The outcome is what it is.

Plus- I'm sure they accept some average kids... as long as you are "well rounded".

This being the Yale board, no one was asking about Al Gore. But as for GW Bush, at the time he was applying to Yale probably the more important legacy connection was that his grandfather, Prescott Bush - another big Yale alumnus, was finishing up a long run as a prominent US Senator from Connecticut.

So the wealth and political dynasty as well as multi-generational legacy connection would not have been lost on the Yale admissions people.

OK, so legacy prob helped him get in...but stop saying he's an idiot while you bow down to Al Gore and his global warming movie when he had worse grades than Bush...if so, you should be skeptical about Al Gore's knowledge of global warming since he must be an even bigger idiot...
