Afaik switching majors at CPP isn’t as easy as at the UCs, especially if your trying to change from an non-impacted major like math to an impacted major like civil engineering. Have you researched exactly what you have to do to switch? I would get that nailed down before I committed to transferring.

Denied
3.45 with updated gpa (uw)
Biochemistry Major
1710 SAT

CPP?? As in Cal Poly Pamona?

I was talking about CSULB, and as far as I was told Civil Engineering isn’t impacted at CSULB but I will double check.

thanks!

Civil Engineering isn’t impacted. Here’s the link: [CSULB 2011-2012 Catalog - Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering Management - Undergraduate Programs - Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering](<a href=“California State University, Long Beach - Acalog ACMS™”>California State University, Long Beach - Acalog ACMS™)

Are you guys checking using a website? All I can do is use an application checker which emails me my status, and its been the same for months now!

Your application has been reviewed, and we have determined that you are on track to meet CSU minimum requirements. Your application will now be considered in the competitive round of admission review. We will notify you of a decision no later than April 1. We appreciate your patience during this process. We will notify you by email of the decision or if we should need any additional documents so be sure to check your email regularly for messages from CSULB and be sure to respond as soon as possible but no later than the deadline given.

Yeah my bad I was posting in two forums at once lol. On a side note, CSULB needs a better system than this email status thing, it get’s kinda annoying. Like how hard is it to have a login system like every other school?

Do you know if its better to have a later application decision date or worse or doesn’t matter. CSULB is supposed to get back to me by May 1.

I was, from Wisconsin and have a 26 ACT

Sadly, I was denied a few days ago.
CSULB was my top choice and I was very disappointed to say the least. It seems that I worked so hard to end up getting nowhere. Blah! I will just have to accept my admissions to my third/fourth choice of colleges. Everything will be just fine… This will only make me work harder in college, maybe I’ll find a better choice beyond CSULB
Good luck to those still waiting for their decisions and congrats to those who’ve been accepted. :)

My statistics:
G.P.A: 3.59
SAT score: 1460
ACT score: 22
Major: Anthropology
Status: First Time Freshmen

Congrats to everyone who got in!

RockyHorror…your stats look great, I can’t believe they denied you. There’s no hope for me! That’s the spirit…just work hard so you can go to some place even better for grad school :)

As a side note…my friend with a 3.7 GPA is a Sociology major with a concentration in Social Work…she just got sent a packet that’s due at the end of the month…no idea what that’s about. It didn’t say she was accepted, it just said she needed to complete the additional information in the packet to be considered still.

As was noted before, my emails that I get from the automated website also say decisions will be made by May 1…not sure if it’s better or worse for it to say April, hmm…

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe freshmen will get their decision by April 1, while transfers’ date is May 1.

According to Wikipedia (source page doesn’t work), the average GPA for freshman admits in 2011 was 3.73. There are a LOT of applicants, so it has gotten really competitive. I think the admission rate was just above 30%, but who knows how it’ll be this year after even more of an increase in applications.

Denied - but was expecting to make it based on what i’d been accepted to.
(UC santa cruz, cal poly slo, and plenty other csu’s)

GPA: 3.2
SAT: 720 cr/680 math

Probably just too many Film applicants.

donnaholic: Thanks… Trust me there is always hope or a brighter side to a situation. I’m sure you’ll get in! CSULB is a competitive school merely because so many people have applied along with constant budget cuts. I don’t look at it as if I didn’t have good enough grades to qualify for CSULB, I just look at it as something to grow upon. I’ll accept my admissions elsewhere and hopefully I’ll still have a great college experience!
Best of luck to all of you!

I sent in my transcripts about 3 weeks ago and when I check my application status, it still reads that my transcripts are needed. waaah, I hope it updates soon.

^ you should call them about it. That was me before but I called them and everything’s updated.

@stressy

Dont worry about it. I had the same problem. I emailed admissions and they got back to me like 2 days later and they said they updated it. So i highly doubt they didn’t get your transcripts, they just haven’t updated every student account.

i have heard absolutely nothing from them…about anything

Rock, I really wanted you to get in. You really seemed to want to get into CSULB the most. I’m sorry it didn’t work out. I’m sure you’ll be fine wherever you go. You can also transfer if you still want to go to CSULB. Good luck with everything!

@RockyHorror I really admire your optimism! I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t get in. Like Power said you seemed like you really did want to. I wish you the best in whichever college you end up choosing! =)
