I just checked today and I’ve been given provisional admission! Omg I’m so happy :D

This is pretty nuts, I sent my transcripts in with a 3.4 transfer GPA back in early Feb. I still have not received any notice and my application still says that I am in the competitive round.

What are the majors of the transfer students that already got accepted? Are any of you econ majors?

@AnnabelxLee: I have a friend who’s a first year student at CC. When I told her the news about freezing enrollment, she flipped out. It looks like she’ll have to look somewhere else since she can’t cram in all of her units before the policy comes into action.

Does anyone know if you can transfer to a CSU with a major and then switch to a different one? It doesn’t look like my friend can transfer to a CSU in Architecture if she can’t cram in all of the requirements before the new policy takes effect.

Rainsonata: I would have flipped out myself if I were in her shoes. You know it sucks to say this, but she may end up a 3 year CC student due to the fact she’s a new student and you have to wait for all the continuing students to register first. It took me 3 years because I changed my major and was seriously behind in math because I screwed around in high school. The freeze won’t effect the UC system. So maybe your friend should follow Plan C for the UC system. Worse comes to worse, she’ll still be able to apply to the CSU system as well. Depending on her major, maybe UC Irvine would be a good alternative. I know for psychology they have a practical psychology degree as well as a research based degree.

I am also a Business Econ major, am in the competitive round been like that for nearly a month now :(

STILL. WAITING.
CSULB is my first choice. I sent them my transcripts about 3 weeks ago. From what everyone else is saying, I’m unsure at this point!

Here are my stats.
GPA: 3.5 (3.7 with 7th semester)
SAT: 1690
Major: Economics
First time freshman

ktkodi: Film production, and I live about 2 hours away in Ventura

Shainsworth: Oh so you don’t live in the service area. I think last year those people heard later. I still know a few people at my school waiting to hear back too and I live about 2 1/2 hours away, so don’t give up hope you’re not alone!

just checked and im admitted =]

The news about budgets cuts and freezing enrollment hit the first page of Yahoo news.

WOOH LET’S ALL GIVE IT UP FOR THE CSU SYSTEM! [/sarcasm]

Yeah, instead of trying to fix the problems from the inside out, they are trying to fix the problems from the outside in.

It’s such a joke. They pass legislation or create programs to get us through school quicker, yet at the same time they are making it so it takes longer to get your degree. Counter-productiveness at its best!

The good news is that the UC system isn’t freezing classes.

This is getting ridiculous. At this rate, everyone’s going to graduate in 5 or 6 years. First they cut classes, units, enrollments, yet they increase the tuition and the president’s salary! This is bull. Complete bull.

Just got accepted!! yay! Go beach!

^Did they actually send you an email/letter, or did you have to check on their Applicant Self-Service thingy?

Can everyone that has been accepted post their stats: gpa, transfer or first year, major, in or out of service area, ect.

Rainsonata, that’s how it is already! The average student graduates in 5-6 years. It’s gonna be more like 7-8. I was watching a video made by my community college and they said that they have quite a bit of students who take 5 years to finish an 18 unit certificate!

Yeah, people who get accepted: Please post your stats! I know we are all interested in finding people who applied to the same major we did. I know I’m interested in transfers into the psych program!

Congrats to those who are in!

Not only are they cutting acceptances, but one of my professors was reading us an e-mail she received from the transfer director saying that in order for students to be considered as transfer students to CSUs, they’ll need a certificate. I can’t seem to find anything online about it though.

@ Stressy,

What certificate, can you elaborate?

thanks.

STILL waiting California CC transfer Bay Area.Psych, pre-req’s done and then some. Got the email 01/30 asking for transcripts. Ordered rush delivery and they were sent out the next day… i know some people were wondering whether or not your transcript request date was significant. Guess not :/

And what I think they mean by certificate is your AA maybe? Because at my school the requirements for an AA and IGETC/General Ed are strikingly similar. The only difference is that with AA you have to take P.E. bleh. I understand where the CSU’s are coming from though, since IGETC and the AA requirements are so similar it might be more of a guarantee that you have your gen ed done. It’s like how some UC’s TAG needs to be officially approved by a counselor before you can send it.

It might actually even out the playing field. I know so many people, like my friend for example, who don’t follow through on what they report on their application. My friend and I went to the CSU he SIR’ed to (a very well-known one, not LB though) and gave his new counselor his official transcripts. He failed 3 out of the 4 classes he was taking ,which were major requirements and his GPA fell below a 2.0 and the counselor just shrugged it off. (Do not try this at home) I was shocked

Here are my stats:

3.7 GPA
Transfer
Accounting Major
Out of Service.
