Has anyone been wait listed at USC yet?

My daughter got into USC in November but a couple of her friends are still waiting to hear… does anyone know if anyone has been placed on a wait list for USC yet?

@kaylamissy We are still waiting to hear as well (in state). So frustrating. I’ve never seen it take this long.  My daughter has reached out to the Admissions Counselor who responded with the same response. There are several at her school that are waiting to hear as well.  High school counselors have also indicated that it has never taken this long.

It’s crazy, its taking so long! Either your in or not. I was just curious if kids have been wait listed. I know some got deferred but one of my daughter’s friends was wondering if kids have been wait listed yet. She’s ready to move on but USC is her first choice.

@kaylamissy My daughter said that she has not heard of anyone waitlisted. She stated some of her friends in top 5% were excepted early decision and those under 2nd review are still waiting.

@SCLADY12 , my daughter heard 2nd week in November which was over 3 months ago so I think it’s crazy her friends are still waiting. I understand a month but 3 3 months and looking like 4 months is crazy. I know some were accepted in November before Thanksgiving and then some right before Christmas. I wonder if they are waiting for some of the ones accepted to tell them they aren’t coming so they can open it to other kids. Whatever their reasoning is is not good because it’s stressing a lot of kids out. At least with Clemson we knew date they were going to send out letters.

The Admissions Counselor explained that early acceptance was based solely on GPA, SAT/ACT scores. Those that had had the highest numbers were accepted in November. For those moved to secondary review, they perform the more holistic process. The Admissions Counselor indicated that everyone will hear whatever date they communicate in March; however, per their #UofSCYes site and this site, people are being admitted sporadically. It is very frustrating. We are coming up on admitted student days and housing deadlines at other colleges that we applied/accepted to as well as for USC and we have no answer from them. Sad.

@kaylamissy Oops --just realized had incorrect work in post # 3 (excepted vs. accepted)!

Still waiting too. Has anyone heard of any applicant being rejected yet? I wonder if those notifications are being sent out sporadically as well, or if they will be sent in the final batch in March.

I haven’t heard of anyone being rejected yet, only deferred, that’s why I was wondering if anyone had been wait listed. My daughter’s friends just want to hear something at this point. They might get bridged also but they just want to hear anything at this point. And I do know kids have been accepted at 2 different times. My daughter heard the week before Thanksgiving and some of her friends heard the week before Christmas.

@kaylamissy My daughter hasn’t heard of anyone being rejected, but I believe that the admissions counselor said that they do decline some during the early admissions. I believe that she said that the bridge offers would go out towards the end (whatever the March date they quote). I do not know much about USC’s bridge program. Clemson’s bridge has been around for a while (9-10 years) and USC’s has only existed for 4-5 years. Have you heard anything about USC’s bridge?

@SCLADY12 , one of my neighbors is bridged this year at USC. Her boyfriend goes to USC as well but he wasn’t bridged. At first she did not like it but she likes it now. I do know it’s the opposite of Clemson’s bridge as far as housing. The dorms are not as nice but at least they are on campus. I didn’t like that Clemson’s bridge students dorms weren’t off campus. My neighbor does not feel excluded as far as being bridged at USC. She cannot rush since she was bridged but she’s going to next year. And she loves the technical school where she goes to. She actually says that she will miss it next year. Her parents are also happy since this year was a lot cheaper on them since she attended the bridge program.

@kaylamissy Thanks for the information on USC bridge.  I will have to look into it some more if that is the option given to my daughter.

@SCLADY12 , your welcome, hope your daughter hears something soon.
