Has anyone else ever been verified and had to send tax transcripts?

Here's my situation: My fafsa was selected for verification and the school requested a copy of my parents' and my tax transcripts. My parents and I mailed our taxes in a little over a week ago. Both returns are entitled to refunds. I also need to get a parent plus loan but can't apply until the verification process is complete. I don't think that tuition is due until the first week of August. Is there any need to worry about this? Has this ever happened to anyone else?

the way I undestand the parent plus loans to work is that you dont want to apply too early for it because the credit check is only good for 90 days. So, as long as you are within the 90 day period you should be fine.

Yes, it has happened to many people. FAFSA requires schools to verify at least 30% of the FAFSAs they receive. Some schools verify even more. My son’s school verified 100% of their FAFSAs so every student had to supply their tax transcripts (if they had any).

It is very common, nothing to worry about. We have been verified several times.
