Harvard assumes high GPA and high SAT. However, of all elements taken into account, the SAT is the least important. Reach 2100 and forget it. Having a national or international prize is much more important, for instance, as is having accomplished something extraordinary (whichever way you define it). EC’s make the difference, along with interesting essays.
Note however that if you’re low-income and could not have traditional activities and clubs, working for 30 hours a week to help your family or being unpaid labor for your relatives “counts”. But you still need to be somehow extraordinary.:)</p>
