Ok, here goes:
I have been looking far and wide for some good likelier to low-match schools. It's so easy to fall in love with the reach schools, but I don't want my list to be too top-heavy and I have to meet with my GC soon to begin going over my list. I'm looking mostly at small, New England LACs with a few in the southeast - Amherst, Davidson, Williams, Colby, Bowdoin, Trinity etc. and maybe a few that are a tiny bit larger like Dartmouth. I was wondering whether anyone knew anything about these three schools and whether for someone with these stats they would be safer schools (of course, nothing's guaranteed)
Gettsyburg College, St. Lawrence University, and University of Richmond

Stats:
SAT I: 800 CR/760 M/790 W (1560/2350)
GPA: upward trend ~3.8 UW/4.2 W
SAT IIs: 800 Literature 700 Math IC 750 World History
ECs: student government, varsity cheerleader, youth coaching, Key Club
APs: World Hist 5, taking 3 exams this yr (Eng. Lit, Calc AB, US Hist) and probably 4-5 next year

I am doing an independent study in Euro. Hist senior year since my school offers no AP.

my grades freshman year were ok-ish (problems in Alg. II/Physics) but skyrocketed soph. year and this year i have straight A's...all Honors/AP in all possible classes

I don't know what you all are smoking - NOT "definitely" safeties! My D's best friend, with similar stats from a NYC private school, was REJECTED from U. of Richmond. St. Lawrence sounds like a true safety, but Gettysburg accepts fewer than 40% of its applicants, so it is not a safety for most, though I expect with your stats you would be accepted. For more info on these schools, look at their websites, Fiske, Princeton Review, etc.

The college acceptance landscape can change quickly. This summer, keep your eyes open for stats on the class accepted for fall 2008 at the schools you are interested in. If you have trouble finding the the numbers, contact the school.

Schools like community service & volunteer work too. I don't know if you just didn't list it or if it's lacking.

Yea my cheerleading coaching is where I coach the 6th grade team for 6-7 hrs/week for about 5 months in the fall - I did it sophomore year and this year and am doing it next year, and that counts as volunteer work. Also, I did 80 hours of volunteer work last summer with a children's program at the local library.

I would say Davidson is a great match. It is impossible to call a school like Davidson a safety, but I would be surprised if you didn't get accepted.

BTW, I will be applying to Davidson also and my scores are MUCH lower, so if that makes you feel any better...:)
