Has anyone gotten their roommate info in the mail?

Hello all,
I have a couple of questions.

1.) What is the difference between a roommate and a suitemate? I've been given my suitemates but the college said they would give us students our assigned roommates soon.

2.) What is the honor code exam and what is it like?

Yeah, I got mine in the mail two days ago, but I’m fairly close to Rice. Others have begun getting theirs, though.

1) I think the difference is that a roommate is the only person who is actually in the same room with you, whereas your other suitemates have their own room. But all suitemates share a common room and a bathroom, although the arrangement varies depending on college. (Someone else correct me on this if I’m wrong…)

2) I’m not sure on this one, but I’ve heard that it’s easy from past students.

LastShadow is correct regarding the difference between roommates and suitemates. You share a room with a roommate and a suite with a suitemate. (Your roommate is both your roommate and a suitemate if you live in a suite, though.)

It’s a very short exam that ensures you have at least a basic understanding of Rice’s Honor System. If I remember correctly, you are allowed to use the Honor Council’s website (honor.rice.edu) but may not consult with anyone else while taking the exam. If you fail the exam (which is unlikely–it’s easy), you will have to attend a reorientation to the Honor System on a Saturday.

Don’t be fooled by its ease, though. It’s important to take it seriously and to thoroughly familiarize yourself with the Honor System. Ignorance of the system is not a defense against a violation of the Honor Code and is not a mitigating factor in sanctioning. The same is true for the Code of Conduct and the Alcohol Policy. To remove one of the holds on your account before registering each semester, you sign a statement saying you have read and understand the Alcohol Policy, Code of Conduct, and Honor Code Blue Book, thus nullifying any plea of ignorance.
