Has anyone heard from Northeastern RD?

@melodicvitamins this might be a stupid question, but where did you see your FA Letter?

My D was deferred from EA and is now anxiously waiting. I have to say, I find it rather heartless that Northeastern would release “some” results, but not all. I’m sure she is not the only one who is now checking her email hourly to see if her result is posted. There’s got to be a better way.

@flute1298

Historically, they do a single early wave of top applicants and only acceptances, though I can’t say why. The rest of the decisions are out in mid-March, all at once. I know, it sucks :confused: but there’s absolutely no need to be checking for results until then at least. Good luck to your daughter!

@samc24 It’s in the sidebar with your decision letter, scholarship information, etc.

@melodicvitamins mine only says decision, scholarship, and myneu instructions… Maybe I have some documents left? I wouldnt know because the portal didn’t have a to do list for financial aid!

@samc24 Huh, weird. Did you apply for financial aid? (I didn’t, but I sent my FAFSA there, so I guess they counted it.) If you did and you sent your documents in relatively late, they might still be calculating your awards package.

@melodicvitamins yep, I applied for (and need!) FA. Sent in the FAFSA a loooong time ago.
Other universities I applied to require some sort of citizenship documentation (since I wasn’t born in america), but the let me know on the portals, so I knew what actions to take. I guess that’s the reason? Wish they could have told me :frowning:

@samc24 24 call them. Two years ago my older daughter didn’t get her financial aid package till much after the acceptance. Sometimes they just don’t get to someone or misplace your stuff.

@samc24 Did you submit the CSS profile?

To those who got in, had your mid-year grades been sent yet? Or did they decide without them? Also when did you apply?

@TomSrOfBoston yup!
I emailed them the verification and everything is received now. They said I should get an email about aid soon… Too bad it’s the weekend now haha

@le12345 yeah my mid year report was sent in mid-Jan. I applied in late December.

@le12345 I applied in mid-November, and my mid-year report hasn’t been sent yet.

Did everyone who got into honors find out early or do they still accept some regular?

@samc24 Same thing happened to me. I sent them CSS and Fafsa but can’t see the FA stuff on the side bar. I am not a US citizen but a permanent resident. For all my other colleges I had to send them a copy of my Green Card but Northeastern didn’t tell me to. What verification did you send and to what email address?

About honors - it is a small percentage who find out early and since these are top candidates they are all going to be honors. There were also some honors in the ED/EA round. NEU claims top 10% get honors. Seeing how the top candidates heard this week and there is no mention of any new special program - I think there is nothing replacing university scholars. I would think candidates who find out at regular time will still get into honors - I doubt 10% were notified this week.

That being said I think the honors program will most likely still be changed this coming year - there is a new director, they are using East Village instead of IV for honors freshman - don’t know yet what else will be changed!

@tawhidkhn63 create your myNEU portal and go to the financial aid status page. Over there, you’ll see it in your required documents. There’s a form online that you fill out and sign. I emailed them the form and a scanned copy of my passport, and it’s all good now! I emailed it to the standard sfs email, and they responded in around half an hour!

There’s an Honors Welcome Day on March 19, which is essentially right when the rest of the RD results come out, so I would guess that all the Honors kids were accepted this week. I could be wrong.

the welcome days by colleges are later - end of March and April

we went when my daughter was admitted and each of the college days had honors sessions you could attend to learn about the program - this was a few years ago but I would think it would still be true. It is important to go the day of your college they do offer very specific information about the programs in that college

^^^ I agree with that, especially for someone flying in who might only come once. Wait for your specific college’s day if they don’t have them in the “honor’s only” day. We learned a lot!
