I'm a sophomore and I was accepted into the Knowledge Exchange Institute PreCollege Research Abroad Program in Thailand for five weeks for summer 2011. (I also posted this in the internship section) I can't find many reviews about it and I'm not sure if I should go or not, or how prestigious it is?

Has anyone heard of it/gone to it?

Seems iffy to me. But if you’re interested in that sort of thing, go for it.

Well I’m really interested in research. But I haven’t been able to get an internship in a local lab and many internship programs only accept rising seniors, so I thought this might help me get an NIH internship next summer or possibly to become a Clark scholar? But I feel like I need more info

I’ve never heard of it. I’m sure it is just a money making program at best.

What about UC Samta Barbara RMP? Any other suggestions? I have a 4.09, been to CTY & EPGY, shadowed in a hospital, I volunteer at a convalescent hospital, etc. But there aren’t many research programs open to rising juniors, it seems like they’re mostly seniors.

And on a side note, KEI tells me 30% of their interns are Intel STS or Siemoms finalists. It’s a small program, but I have found references to it on Amherst’s website and Thomas jefferson high school’s recommended programs. I’m really not sure what to do or other programs still accepting apps?
