RD here, I havent heard yet but I did receive a letter today telling me they thought I was a good candidate to apply for the honors program, so I am going to take that as a positive.

doonvarn, I got that letter too! And I couldn't believe it! Two essays- to be postmarked on sunday!!!!!! I don't have time- I have other essays and a research paper for school! What do you think of this?

I think they are going through the applications and are pulling aside apps that they think would fit in their honors program. So I will get mine into the post office by Saturday. I understand if you make it in the honors program it means some pretty good money. Easy enough in school to explain why homework is late, I am going to just focus on the essays and tell my teachers I got letter from Loyola and I needed to work on these essays. I will show them my letter. I have found my teachers pretty sympathetic when it comes to college stuff.

doonvarn and pancake 7 (or anyone else who received and Honors Program invite), would you be willing to list your stats?
I'm a little surprised that my daughter hasn't received this type of invite.
Thanks!

I think if your daughter is interested she should apply. Nothing ventured....

I just got this email so we all have more time:

Recently you received a letter inviting you to apply for the Loyola College Honors Program. I am writing to inform you that we have extended the deadline for application to February 27 at 5 p.m. Applications should be postmarked by that time.
If you have already submitted your application, please disregard this notice. You will receive an acknowledgment letter soon.
You can access the application form and further information about the program online at Honors Program . Please be certain to complete all required information, including both essays (sections III and IV of the application). Send the completed application to the Honors Program Director, HU231A, 4501 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21210-2699. Notifications regarding admission to the program will be mailed to applicants on or before April 1.
Please be advised that Honors applications are received and evaluated through a process that is entirely separate from those of College admission, scholarships and financial aid. Applying to Honors will not affect your application to the College or to our scholarship programs in any way.
Please also note that our suggested guidelines for SAT scores and GPA are published only as guidelines, not as cutoffs. Honors is a small and selective program, and we consider each application carefully, looking at the whole picture. We strongly encourage applications from all interested and able students, including those whose scores might fall somewhat below these guidelines.
I hope your senior year continues to be successful. Thank you for your interest in Loyola College and in our Honors Program. I hope to hear from you before February 27.
Sincerely,

okay I just got that email too! Yay!

And benito, I think doonvarn is right. Your daughter should definitley apply if she wants to. I think I just got the letter because I checked off the "Honors Program" box on the application. Like it said in the email- the SAT's aren't cutoffs, only guidelines. Plus your her stats are at/above the "suggested guidlines" limit. And if your daughter is interested in the Honors Program it will show in her essays!
