I made UF my first choice a month ago and haven’t had any update on the Benacquisto process. Just wondering what I should do.
Mine also hasn’t appeared yet.
Our Benacquisto award is now visible in the One.uf.edu website in the financial aid section. We are in state.
@cc665544 Did that just show up today?
@hoosier2000 , yes that is correct. The corporate national merit finalist award showed up a few days back and the Benacquisto award showed up today.
We are OOS. Wondering if the freshman year funding could be pulled after legislature votes again in July? Are we assured of getting at least the first year?
We are OOS and the Benacquisto is in my son’s financial aid section. Hope everyone who is expecting it sees it soon!
Someone from the State of Florida told me that out-of-state applicants will also automatically receive a full out-of-state tuition waiver from the university. The out-of-state tuition waiver portion is paid out by the university and it is the requirement of the Benacquisito scholarship that the university pick up the amount for the waiver. But I don’t know if I understood this correctly. Why the universities (both UF and UCF) don’t list the waiver on the financial aid page of the student is a mystery that need to be unraveled.
Does it show any remaining balance?

To those that already received the Benacquisto in your portal: were you still required to pay the 225$ housing deposit? I haven’t received it yet, which is a bit frustrating since it costed 225$ that was supposed to be covered under the scholarship.
@bvbfc09 I haven’t received it yet either. Did you accept a corporate scholarship as I did?
@hoosier2000 I did!
It showed up on my son’s financial aid page, but it was not for the full cost of attendance. Yikes, hopefully just an administrative error!
@FLWahoo How much was it for?
@hoosier2000, it looks like the mistake was in the cost of attendance in the financial aid section. They showed > $28K, when the actual should be about $21K per their own website. The scholarships all add up to the $21K, so it should be OK. Trying to get in touch with the aid office to get it all corrected. Anyone else have this issue?
@FLWahoo, the $28K cost of attendance includes $7K-something for Summer 2020, so the $21K scholarship is correct for Fall/Spring 2019-2020.
Still waiting for it to show up for my son, though we only informed National Merit that UF is his first choice on 3/31.
Yesterday I called them and when I checked today the information showed up.
Thanks, @kdnmom. I didn’t expect the summer costs to be included.
It sounds like all Benacquisto awards will be distributed by mid-May. I called financial aid today and they said remaining awards will be awarded in late April or the first week of May.
