Has anyone relocated for an internship?

Is this a good idea? I plan on going somewhere for my internship next summer. Just wondering if anyone has done it here?

No big deal.

It's not that uncommon. I know quite a few students who have done an internship at a location other than home base. Some have done it at their college location, while others choose an entirely new city. You would certainly need to be an independent kind of person, find an apartment, figure out transportation, etc. Quite exciting.

yeah its ****ing expensive. good luck paying all of your deposits and first months rent up front without some sort of credit card, unless you're good at saving money.

Lots of engineering companies will cover housing or give you a housing stipend to cover those relocation expenses for the summer. You'd probably want to find a summer sublet, where you'd be renting the apartment from the person that's renting it. Those usually aren't hard to find in any sizable city, and if it's a large enough company, they sometimes even have their own apartments they'll put temporary employees in.

My girlfriend is going to be interning at a company this summer, and they'll be paying for her apartment, a rental car for the whole summer, and her airplane ticket to and from their location.

I have, twice. Last summer and this summer.

I moved half way around the world for my BB SA stint. Apartment paid for and all.

Im majoring in finance, and I want to get a head start on finding internships already for next year since I'll be entering my junior year.
