I need an advanced composition class and there is only one at my school and it happens to be online. This seems very foreign to me, especially for an English class- when there is subjective grading involved it really helps to know and be able to work closely with a teacher. I have a 4.0 and certainly want to maintain it.

I know there's already a thread about credits transferring for online classes (they do) but I wanted to ask for opinions of these online classes if you have actually taken one.

I've taken three. Basically you just submit the paper online through your school's online program. Your professor grades it and sends the grade to you. It kind of sucks since there's no feedback, so they'll probably grade relatively lightly. Check ratemyprofessors.com and see what others have to say about that particular class. Hope this helps.

RateMyProfessor is a nice resource... It's helped me to pick my classes thus far, and no B's yet.

No feedback? I've taken many online classes and I've gotten feedback on all my papers - much better than some non-online classes that I've taken.

ratemyprofessors is the way to go.

online classes are usually easier than regular classes. except sometimes the homework can be a little ambiguous

Online classes, IMO, suck. You have to really be mature and remember due dates and whatnot. I took an English course online and it wasn't as fulfilling as my prior classroom English classes. I got an A but it was a really easy A - I'm not proud of it.

Was this a GW online class?

No - a Comm. College class.
