Hi! I was just curious if any of the Harvard Summer School program have been accepted to the university. I have seen a differing opinions about whether it gives you an edge in the admissions process (some say that the students who attended the summer program have a lower chance of getting in then students who didn't attend the program, while others say that it can give you an edge for a variety of reasons including the fact that it can show that you can handle Harvard's course load). Does it really give you an edge? Is it really worth it? Money isn't an issue. Does anyone have any recommendations for summer programs? I did UPenn's leadership program last year.

Yes, students who have attended Harvard Summer School have been accepted to Harvard College. No, attending HSS will not give you an edge. HSS is a cash cow that accepts almost everybody. While it may give you a taste at what life would be like as a Harvard undergraduate, there really is no comparison.

If you really wanted to stretch your wings, it would be better to look at a highly competitive (and less expensive)summer program like RSI, TASP, Summer Science Program, NSLI-Y to name a few.
