Has CCM Removed Cut System?

Does anyone know if they still cut students or if the evaluation system at boards has changed?
Thanks!

My understanding is that CCM Drama retains a cut system; CCM MT has discontinued the cut system. Unfortunately, due to the re-deisgn of the entire U. Cincinnati website, the link that once directed you to the current policy is no longer valid. As I remember, following evaluations, a student could be denied the opportunity to audition for shows for the following semester if there were deficiencies, but would not be asked to leave the program.

CCM Drama still has a cut program, seeing as how three freshmen were cut this year (which no one saw coming, at least among the students). Even if you make it past the cuts through boards, that does not guarantee you will be in showcase. CCM MT no longer has a cut program, persay, but it’s a bit sketch in how it now works.

chavalajavala- can you say what you mean by “how it works”?

There is not a cut system at CCM for musical theater.

I visited CCM last year, and spoke to several people involved in admissions as well as several MT students. They said there is not a cut system anymore for MT. (Drama still has one.) Of course, they can still make you leave the program if you really mess up; like being disrespectful to teachers and students, never improving, making bad grades, etc.
There ARE still juries for musical theater. But if you fail jury, you don’t leave the program. Instead, you are not allowed to participate in the show OR the New York showcase. So you obviously do not want to fail jury.

correction: if you fail a “board”–what they are really called–you cannot participate in a show the following quarter. No one would be cut from a showcase.
