So I’ve gotten a housing offer for Hastings Hall at the YMCA in Northeastern university as a freshman honors student. Thankfully I got a single room, but I’ve been trying to search for photos or videos about the place and have found nothing so far. I want to know wht type of bathrooms there are because im a germaphobe and im dreading a communal bathroom.
We are also looking for information about what it’s like to live at Hastings Hall for Fall 2017 semester. It says online that all Hastings Hall rooms are single economy or single standard. Profile also says there are only dorm rooms on three floors of the building. How is this as secure as a traditional dorm building where only students can access? Can any YMCA patron get into that building? Any info is appreciated!
@ATX_Mom That does sound concerning. There’s barely anything online about Hastings Hall, not even pictures of the dorm rooms… Quite concerning to be honest
I think Hastings is being used due to the over-enrollment that most private colleges are facing this year. I think it’s usually not used, hence why no one has lived there or has any info.
Re social life mention above: That was in reference to the dorms when they were being used for upperclassmen. As a part of the honors dorms, I wouldn’t expect that.
Hi - I contacted Northeastern Housing about Hastings Hall with some specific questions.
She got right back to me and here is the information I got. This reassures me.
Hasting Hall is a “regular” Northeastern University residence hall. It is home to approximately 117 Northeastern student all living in singles, and for Fall 2017 it is a designated First Year hall so all residents will be freshmen. There are 3 RAs in Hastings, one on every floor. It is co-ed with gender specific community bathrooms. Additionally, it is very centrally located on campus. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
