my parents switched me to a private catholic school in 10th grade and now am a junior who HATES it. although i did MUCH better at this school. I am talking my parents into letting me get home schooled. but they keep arguing that homeschooling is for people who can't assimilate themselves with other people. and i am a VERY outgoing person. but. its just impossible to have the same relationship with these people as oppose to my friends from the public school. so what do i do?. and how does homeschooling even work?

Your parents need to get in touch with a local support group and find out the truth. I have the most outgoing children ever and they have loved being homeschooled. They have tons more time to spend with their friends (they aren't wasting time doing busywork or hearing something explained an hour after they understood it) just visiting and doing cool projects together. Especially in an urban area like Long Island, there are a ton of activities available.

Homeschooling is different in every state as to how you set it up. LEAH, Inc. is a New York state homeschool organization that has information about the laws and support groups in your area. Here are their representatives for your area: LEAH - Region 10 - Serving the New York City/Long Island Area Just give them a call or an email and ask for information! I'm sure there are other support networks out there, too.

Seriously, the idea that homeschooling is for folks who can't assimilate is way out of date -- your folks just need to meet some homeschoolers.
