Man, I still can not believe I got rejected from UCLA. I first thought it was because of my lack of EC(I ve been in US for 1 year), but I got to know many outstanding students who were rejected also, even the girl who HArvard accepted.
Instead, they accepted so many "average" kids from my school. Some of them deserve to be accepted, some dont.
This may sound insulting to UCLA adcoms & accepted students, but it really drove me nut. All of the teachers in my school got really mad because many of their favorite students, who tried really hard, get good results and rejected for no clear reason.
man, it's so unfair.
What's wrong with you, UCLA?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? dont tell me you are too good for me.

m, same here, except i've been here for 2 years

Honestly, get over it and move on. There is life after rejection.

There is, for sure. I'm still waiting for a bumch of school, and the best is yet to come.
But this is really horrible. I feel so unceratain now.

A reason why might be your lack of grammar and spelling skills. (Just a thought)

I hope you didn't use that many question marks on your application essay...

twitb if you are truly a good student as you say you are, you should know you'll be fine no matter WHERE you end up. sure admissions may seem "unfair" but what in life IS fair? get used to it, it will only get worse.

"bumch" "unceratain" ALbywalby, you meant these words ?
I just typed them fast, who cares about grammar//////

I'm over it now, but deep, deep in my mind is a big question mark .
thank u pixidanzer

Sorry, I was rude.

twitb it's fine and totally understandable why you feel the way you do. let this one tiny bump in the road make you feel stronger instead of resentful. college will be an exciting place no matter where you choose to go if you go in with a good attitude. i wish you the best of luck---that goes for everyone on this message board. :)

UCLA does not select based solely on academic merit. In the end, a group of people with pretty much unknown backgrounds and agendas make judgements based on unknown criteria and arrive at a list of admits.

Many of these decisions, if examined by objective parties, would be laughable.

In situations like this, where there is little room for appeal, the only logical response IS to laugh...and move on.

!!!

Do we need to go over this again? 4 admission counselors review...

Look, UCLA rejected you; turn this negative into a positive. Use it as a force that benefits you. I would hate to be rejected from a university (and I will soon from Cal or SD), but let it be something that is a motivating force.

I got rejected from RYLA (a program) and Bank of America (scholarship); it sucked. Period. But I got accepted into another program and had a blast...in the end, it wasn't that bad. Funnel all this energy into something positive for you.

Seems like the more mature people were the ones accepted. UCLA is a reach school, period. I don't know what they were looking for in each individual applicant, but I trust that their decisions were justified. I doubt they just randomly threw out applications just to spice things up. Maybe you'll get your revenge with Berkeley admissions.

Thank u you guys.I'll just sit back and wait for Berkeley.
Everyone, Have a nice springbreak.

twitb, don't hate. And I forgive you for being rude. I just dont think its right when people keep complaining about a rejection. Its not the end of the world you know? And if you have such trouble dealing with one little thing, you'll have a horrible time facing disappointment later in life.

I agree with alby. I know this guy who was rejected by Claremont Mckenna (a teeny tiny in SoCal) ED, and was devastated. Thing was he wasn't really all that qualified (low SAT, ok grades, no ECs), and had rather bland essays. He was WAY too sure that he'd get in, so arrogance bit him in the behind. Just think about the bad points of the school. My friend is rather obese and is plagued with acne, so he figured he wouldn't blend into the glamorous CMC scene anyways.

FaustianPact, wow your words of wisdom are so true. Everyone that i know who had the stats and okay EC"s got in. There are so many applicants with so little room that if your average, you won't get in.
However, i also know many poeple who underservingly got in, even though they are obsese and plagued with acne and are hermaphrodites

Forget UCLA. Go to Cal. It's better anyways :-P.

Just you wait. Years from now, after you graduate from Cal and develop the cure for cancer, you'll be interviewed by TIME Magazine, and you can bash UCLA mercilessly while wearing a Berkeley shirt. Beautiful.

Go Bears.

Or Just wait years from now, you got fired from 7/11 for stealing money to buy drugs.
more realistic than being in time magazine......
