Havard Likely Letters

congrats! you seem to be so down to earth and not bigheaded, I'm glad you got in!

omg...i didn't find out until today on CC what likely letters are. congrats Pandora! that's so incredible:)!

congrats pandora!! ^^

So, Pandora, did you cure cancer and unify the theory of relativity and quantum mechanics and still have time to read to orphans?

'Cause that's what you must have done to receive a likely letter. Gah, that is so great!!!! Good for you!!!!

What I liked most about your attitude (as some have already mentioned) is your civility and modesty. You're going to go very far in life, trust me...

Masterus should take a leaf from your book.

Congrats to you and seriously, please tell us what you think were the aspects of your application that made you stand out. We know you are modest, but please do tell.

:o Honestly, I didn't do anything amazing, such as Intel/Siemens, RSI, Tanglewood Music camp, national volunteer awards, national essay contests, etc. I participated in music, science activities, volunteer work, and general school ec's with decent distinctions (ex. All-State orchestra, volunteer awards, 1 state science olympiad medal).

I suppose I'm "well rounded" with my main passion being math/science. My first essay described how my immigrant parents want me to become a doctor though my passion is engineering; the second essay highlighted my quirky pursuits in science, including the time when I stole my dad's electrical supplies and soldered a really messy circuit. Oh, my counselor rec was excellent (he talked about my growth) while my physics teacher tec emphasized how I see the world through physics.

I think Harvard simply needed engineering girls (who also happened to be crazy existentialists ;) ), so they got desperate and sent me a letter...

It makes me feel good when people like you see this kind of fortune. You are a modest and amiable individual. Congratulations.

Congratulations Pandora!! I'm so happy for you and I second/third/fourth what everybody else has said about the fact that you are so cool and levelheaded and modest about this!

hopefully they need a few more girls in engineering :-x

congrats to you though!

wow! you sound so cool and I am sure you deserve it, if I get in I'll definitely want to be friends with you.
once again, congrats!

wow people on this board love you....lol

interesting tidbit of social psychology

are these letters for regular action applicants or for both early and regular?
thanks

Early round applicants who would get a likely letter would also be admitted in the early round, not deferred, don't you think? There will certainly be applicants who were deferred from the early round who will be admitted in the regular round, and there will certainly be a majority of applicants who are admitted in the regular round (whenever they applied) who will not receive likely letters, so it shouldn't be something to worry about.

Congrats to the applicants getting the likely letters, and good luck to all.

Pandora, you got likely letters from Harvard and Yale? Wow...

Hey everyone,
I just received a Harvard "likely" phone call. I don't know if I actually received a letter (since I'm not home); Pandora, did you also get this phone call?

greenteam, when did they call you?

They work on Sundays?? o.o

pandora, come to princeton

I've only received a letter, no phone call (complete opposite of Yale), which made the letter all the more surprising.
Foolonthehill: I gotta wait for Pton's decision first ;)

They called me Saturday night at about 8:30 P.M. (Pretty startling... I missed the call, called them back, and they were like oh this is Harvard.. I'm like what? Now?)
And, I just got the letter today (Monday).
